Isabel snickered. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Because it was much easier to pretend that this was just a normal dinner with friends then yet another good-bye.
"If you wanted to get a couple of glasses of lemonade and some plates with buns from the kitchen," Jarod suggested, just as happy to pretend about this as Isabel.
"I think I can handle that," she smiled, heading off to do just that. Returning a few minutes later, she set everything out on the totally modded OMG don't turn me in to the admins please table. "This is food service I can handle. In our workshop the other day? I had to pretend I worked in a sandwich shop. I wound up spraying mayo on one of the guys."
"Oh totally on purpose," Isabel said proudly. "It was my workshop called Dealing with Stupid People. Johnny tried his hardest to be a real pain in the ass. Eventually I had to just squirt him with mayo. Then I told him that while I was a food service worker, I could move on to bigger and better things. He'd always be an ass."
"Right here," she replied, bringing it over to the grill. "I should add that Johnny's actually a pretty nice guy. If you can ignore the continual flirting and attempts to get a date. He actually reminds me of Jack. Just not quite as smooth."
"There are very few people who are as smooth as Jack," he said, sliding the patty onto the bun with the ease of long experience. "Is he making a nuisance of himself?"
