After talking to Ragnelle, Richard is finally going to stop hiding and go see Ada.

Not that he was hiding.

Just like he's not pacing around the main room, trying to decide exactly what he's going to say.

Of course not.

"Oh, Richard!" When she spies him, Ada rushes at once to his side. "Where have you been? I had begun to worry."

She smiles. "Yes, exactly."

"I wish Esther would come, sometimes," he says, quietly.

[dearcousin]

She lowers her eyes and nods.

[jarndyceheir]

He kisses her hands. "But. We will make do, hm?"

[dearcousin]

She nods. "What made you think of it?"

[jarndyceheir]

"Just thinking of Bleak House, and of spring. I keep half expecting her to be taking a turn in the gardens, one day."

[dearcousin]

"And perhaps she shall, someday," Ada says hopefully.

[jarndyceheir]

"Or perhaps one day we'll just wake up at home, like nothing happened."

[dearcousin]

"Do you think so?"

[jarndyceheir]

"It's possible. We can't stay here forever; you'd have noticed me gone before you came."

[dearcousin]

"I didn't, though."

[jarndyceheir]

He nods. "So I must get back, then, right? And if I do, you must as well."

[dearcousin]

She frowns a little as she considers this, then nods. "Yes, that does make sense."

[jarndyceheir]

"Well. In the meantime, would you like something to eat?"

[dearcousin]

"Yes, alright."
