I've been reading The Writer's Tale and it's just so fascinating? Insightful? Something. It's just great to read and get a glimpse into RTD's mind. It is a dark, scary place but it's also good to recognize some similar thoughts. Okay, just to say it, it's good to know that I'm not the only one worried about using the term "depression" because ( Read more... )

I agree - it's completely fascinating. I *love* getting a window into the author's thoughts, where they were going when they wrote certain things, what their intent was -- you name it!! That's why I collect DWMs, some Radio Times and the MP3 commentaries. I know what you mean and I adore it!!

And it's nice too (well nice isn't the right word but you know what I mean ...) to find out that they are real people and go through the same stuff as anyone else in terms of self-doubt and even things like depression.

I actually have not gotten the chance to read DWM and I've not tried to listen to audio commentaries (I figured they'd be similar to the Confidentials- "look at how brilliant we are!")but this is great. ♥

I have to say finding that RTD going through these feelings wasn't great for me because, hey, famous people go through the same shit as us, but because I'm not alone.

DWM can be pretty cool and insightful (although they are clearly a product and therefore do more cheerleading than anything else - although the viewer reviews can be surprisingly critical!) The audio commentaries ROCK and aren't nearly as self-congratulatory - you have things like Julie Gardner in 2006 for the Doomsday one basically being like "SHUT UP RUSSELL!! HE WAS GONNA SAY I LOVE YOU, NOW HUSH!!" XD

I'm assuming those nitwits are Ianto stans. I've always loved his writing, especially his characterization, but this book brought all these feelings forward again.

I know some Rose fnas really hated on Martha, but I loved getting to see Martha grow. I don't know, maybe I'm just blind to his faults. I know he has them, but what are they?

As much as I love Donna I love that he stuck to his guns and didn't try to get CT into an episode of SJA.

That quote rings so true. Oy, I wish I could get that idea to take up space in my brain, too.

Maybe one day we'll get lucky and it can stick with us.
