Hi! De-lurking to say I made almost the exact same comment about The Vintner's Luck a few days ago!
I was so excited about the movie until I heard they removed the Sobran/Xas romance. I read an article that said the author cried when she saw what they'd done to her story. Terrible.
It just occurred to me to ask if you have any recommendations along the lines of Vinter's.
I'm always looking for new gay fiction, especially historical. I've gone through the usual suspects (As Meat Loves Salt, Call Me By Your Name, At Swim, Two Boys and soooo many more) and like an addict I just crave more!
Uhm ... the only gay fiction I've read lately has been YA, if you read that, so it's not really explicit ... Will Grayson, Will Grayson is really good, and Naomi and Ely's No-Kiss List :-)

Also, blahhh! I did not like Madame Bovary AT ALL. But I suspect that part of this stems from the fact that I had to read it for school.

As I understand it yes, Elizabeth Knox was very upset with The Vintner's Luck adaptation. Such a wasted opportunity and such a shame.
