Been thinking a lot recently about style in writing. Brought on mainly by the fact I'm co-writing a project about two writers whose styles are worlds apart - and yet, these two writers are considered some of the most successful and influential in the English language. funny that... I always thought Stephen King was a lousy writer with great ideas. That is, he's s a 'teller' rather than a 'shower'.

show don't tell! ;)
it doesn't matter if the internet doesn't need another blog about writing, it'll probably just be helpful for your own sake.
i find a lot of writers lose their natural voice altogether, like when i get an email from a writer friend it's usually very writery, which is nice, but i prefer something more natural, but yeah i have many voices when it comes to writing, probably as you've seen, some more colloquial than others.

i think i just really value a sense of spontaneity in writing. ginsberg or kerouac or someone had this idea about not going back and revising a sentence, just make the point in the next sentence, otherwise the writing will lose it's immediacy.
