I wake up from bizarro psychotic dreams of devastation and there's this sound. Crackling, constant, seemingly random, echoing, everywhere.
It's a keyboard. Some lunatic writer or hacker is typing madly (as lunatics are wont to do), and it is echoing across the whole courtyardish open area between my room and the buildings around me.

I don't know if this was announced previously, but in a speech a week ago yesterday, Terry Pratchett announced he has Alzheimer's. He's donating a million dollars to Alzheimer's research, and there's a site set up to help fundraise - Match It For Pratchett.
