Dio is the villian of Jojo's, at least the part of the story that I have read. He lives in the Middle East, actually.

I'm just guessing here, but I think the kicker of the whole controversy was the animators' incautious association of guys who read the Koran with guys who like to kill people. I wonder if that juxtaposition, although accidental, struck a little too close to home?
