I'm sorry. Try to get through the things you have to do. It won't make you feel better, but you might feel worse if you push away things that are important to you.
Again, I'm very sorry, and I can't imagine what it must be like. I don't know you very well, but if you need to talk you can give me a call or stop by my room in Comfort.
I second everyone...I'm going to keep pushing through, as hard as it is, I know Hat would've wanted me to keep researching and keep living. We all need to be here for each other now-call my cell at any time if need be-I may not get the call if I'm in the INSC, but leave a message if that's the case.
It's never easy. It's always a shock when you hear that someone has died, especially someone as young as your friend. It takes a while, but eventually you say goodbye to them in your own way. Maybe do something in memory of him that he'd appreciate.
Here's a song that might help (the DJ in me takes over): "For a Dancer", by Jackson Browne. It isn't about dancers, per se. Just listen to it and you'll understand.

You have my cell number and my screenname. I can be at Barclay in five minutes. If you need anything--hugs, talks, cookies, or just to not be alone.
