Okay, I actually have a rather different interpretation of the mystery woman and the way that shot was - I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out because I haven't read ANYONE else's opinions. I figured that she is his mother, and the shot was set up with the Doctor looking at Donna because it place her in the background with her mother in the foreground. The show was never going to expressly say that the woman is his mother, but it clearly implies it through that shot
( ... )
Mum and I both thought the lady was Donna, too. Soon as I first saw her, the way she looked at Wilf or whatever it was she said, my mind went 'DONNA! THAT'S DONNA!'. Hopefully when the DVD is released we'll get a commentary that'll give us a damned clue already!!
The Rose/Ten scene was so bittersweet; honestly I wished we'd had a 'past' interaction like this with Ten/Donna, but alas we didn't get it....which bugs me in that when he took her memories in JE she MET HIM, so she'd have known he was this John Smith fella, right? So, no risk of her brain burning out...well, so you'd think!
On reading that, my brain went, "...um. Yes. Glove. What about... OHHHH OMG THAT'S RIGHT!!!" Fuck, I missed that one.
But when he asks who she was, Ten looked at Donna.
I'm seeing this theory a lot! BUT... I still think the mystery woman is Susan. And the reason that he looked at Donna is the Awesome Granddaughters connection.
And I hate RTD again for "I don't want to go." DAMMMMMMIT.
RTD'S BEST WRITER MOMENTS ARE THE ONES THAT MAKE ME WANT TO PUNCH HIM IN THE FAAAAAACE.
I had the same thoughts in regards to mystery woman = Donna. I mean, I have no idea HOW it could've happened but I'm just in love with the idea that Donna will someday remember the doctor and everything they went through together. And that somehow, she'll become a frakking Time Lord!!! It's just such an incredible notion and one I'm absolutely clinging to until canon tells me otherwise. Because thinking of Donna just living her life with that sadness hanging over her is just too much...So I shall believe that mystery woman = Doctor!Donna:)
Also, the Jack cameo really bothered me. Clearly, he's not going to spend the rest of time mourning his losses but seeing him flirt with someone so like Ianto...it just felt wrong so soon after CoE.
I honestly thought I was the only one who'd've thunk it. :D And I know. I didn't cry for any character (even Rose) as hard as I cried for Donna. I want her to remember so badly. Either she should or they should just stop bringing her back because seeing her is just continuing an endless cycle of getting my hopes up and then crashing them.
Seriously. Donna = Time Lord = WIN.
*sigh* I know. I guess part of me really wanted more than some "he's for you" moment. *eyeroll* I wanted Ten (who just never really seemed fond of Jack) and Jack to have a heart to heart, y'know?
i loved it as well, it was so heartbreaking on so many levels. I agree with pretty much everything you said. It's a toss up for me as to whether that lady was his mother or donna i was thinking either was possible as i watched it honestly.
Wilf and Doctor moments broke my heart.
Rose, he saved her for last. I was fighting the tears. She was the last face he wanted to see before he died OMG melts. Seriously. Sadly all he could really do was see her, poor doctor.
I'm sad, but also excited for next season. I hope i like it, i really do.
I SERIOUSLY think it's his mom, but I dunno. I know RTD never makes a mistake and I've learned to watch for the little things and there's just SOMETHING up with that shot of Donna.
OMG. Wilf crying makes me BAWL.
I KNOW!!! I didn't realize till later that he stayed in shadow the whole time too.
Same here. After the preview, I think I'm more okay with it. I think I was more afraid that EVERYTHING would be new, but seeing some recognizable stuff, I think I'm more open to it.

*nods* True. Reminds me of the glorious "almost running into each other" at the beginning of season 4. I loved the way they did that.
Me too. SO effing much. :(
