Okay, I actually have a rather different interpretation of the mystery woman and the way that shot was - I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out because I haven't read ANYONE else's opinions. I figured that she is his mother, and the shot was set up with the Doctor looking at Donna because it place her in the background with her mother in the foreground. The show was never going to expressly say that the woman is his mother, but it clearly implies it through that shot.
By the end of the show I think I actually got the drums thing. It's one of those sci-fi head-fuck things but basically the Time Lords went BACK to the moment when he looked into the vortex thingy as a child and PLACED the sound there to create a link that could take them back to the 'present'. I THINK that's it. But I spent most of the ep in WTF-ery re: the drums. And now it occurs to me that they were in a Time Lock and there should be no way they were able to do that. Huh.
And yeah. Martha and Mickey. That doctor dude she was meant to marry was HAWT. Martha and Mickey is kinda random and one of those pairing-of-the-only-two-black-characters things that sometimes tends to weird me out. But, hey. Looks like they were having a good time.
I was happy to see Rose :) And it was nice to be reminded that somewhere out there, some version of Ten is going to continue existing for a while to come.
In conclusion, and to link with my post: DAMMIT RTD YOU MANIPULATIVE BASTARD WITH YOUR 'I DON'T WANT TO GO'. MASTER + WILF + DOCTOR = LOVE.
Huh. Well that makes sense actually. Interesting...
O_o Oy my head. I dunno. I can't help but wonder if they always knew that the Doctor would lock them in and they didn't go back per se, but rather did it from the actual beginning. Hmmmmm. Seriously, my head hurts. :P

THANK YOU. But (and I know there were 2, but one died) I can't remember: didn't Mickey (the original) go into the parallel universe?

He did, however his gran died in the parallel universe and obviously Rose wasn't happening, so rather than return to the parallel universe he went back to Earth with Martha and Captain Jack at the end of Season 4.
Don't hate me but I wasn't talking about that. :) I mean I HATE that that happens, but there's a lot more than that. Lemme just say, it was really emotional for me.
