Well, nearly died today. Guess I found another med I'm deathly allergic too. Spent 4 1/2 hours in the ER, and they want me back in two days for a followup. I was starting to think they weren't going to let me go at all ( Read more... )

O, my god---how frightening and upsetting. So sorry, sweetheart. *pats you gingerly* --maybe an oatmeal bath would soothe yoor skin a bit?

Oatmeal bath--I hadn't thought of that! Good idea!

I don't do anything half way do I? At least I got through the bad part already. That's what I tell myself, it's all healing from here. :)

In hindsight I wonder how I possibly thought I could get through work in the first place, but the answer is, well I had to. I didn't want to lose my crappy job. Good thing I did the smart thing and got medical care. If they give me crap at work, they can talk to my lawyer. He hates cops, jerk bosses, and corporate thuggery, and not in that order. >:D

So glad that you are okay. I remember my daughter having a severe reaction to penicillen. She had the big red welts all over her body. Very scary.

Oh, your poor little girl. I hope she wasn't as bad as me.

How long did it take for her to get better? No one will tell me how long to expect till I look and feel normal again. Did you find anything that helped her, like oatmeal baths, or something else I could try to feel better quicker?

I took this drug once before and was just fine. I had no idea this would happen. You're never safe I guess. I'm grateful to have lived to tell about it. If I'd panicked when my lungs started going while I was driving to the ER or did something else different, it might be a different story.....

I think we just put some cream on the welts. She has a medical alert bracelet now
so that she doesn't ever get given penicillen again.

Lucky you didn't panick. So glad you are okay,

Oh thank you. This has been a bad, bad month. I think I can take only one more day of June and that's it, it's gotta go. heehee

I think we got things straightened out now. Wishing I had your health care system right now cause I think the bill will give me a stroke...but well, *nervous laughter*, I'll figure something out.

I owe you an email I know.

All this month I keep thinking, "Well, at least the worst is over now", and then some big hand comes out of the sky and smacks me upside the head.

I'm really glad I wasn't crazy enough to try and work. I was still getting worse when I got to the hospital. I think, after trip two, I got the right help now.

Offtopic: Oh, my sister just got diagnosed with TMJ, btw. She managed to bust four teeth in her sleep. Her dentist wants her to get braces to fix this problem.

Better alignment could help, says this new dentist, but her teeth are already almost perfect, braces would be like $5000+ out of pocket (and the guy isn't near, 8-10 hour round trip per visit--joy of living in the hillbilly frontier). She's had several dentists before, good ones, and none of them thought she needed braces, just if she was really vain and wanted them anyway. Do you think braces would be worth it to help her jaw problem?

OMFG! That does sound incredibly frightening... HUGS! HUGS!

As for soothing the aftermath... I lived in oatmeal when I was younger >.< Not sure if it will bring relief to such an outbreak, tho.
