Since this has the potential to be one of the most ambitious fic-type things I've done (with the possible exception of bigbangs) I figured I'd do rather like medie is doing with her girl!Kirk bigbang (which so far is pretty much pure awesomesauce) and post bits and pieces as it's being written so I can get some constructive feedback before the whole

I'm intrigued. I also may be the only person on the PLANET who needs Tarsus IV backstory, even if it's just a few more lines.

Hmm, good point. I'll add a couple of lines here just so everyone has a general idea of what happened, then probably include some flashbacks via Jimmy Kirk's nightmares.

I've added a few lines to hopefully give the very basic idea of what happened on Tarsus, and will definitely be fleshing it out more once I get into Jim's nightmares. Does that help?

It seems like a lot of the time when I write I subconsciously assume that if I know things about the canon, then everyone must know and there's no need to explain anything. It really helps to have someone who doesn't know to just sort of wave their hand and tell me to hold on a minute. *g*

I, too, assume everyone is familiar with canon, which may turn out to be a big problem with the project I'm currently working on.
