I admit I spent most of this episode hiding my eyes behind my hands.
Man, I hear you. I had difficulty sitting through the show (and Merlin's utter rashness and unthinkingness) knowing what was going to happen. *headdesk* I love Merlin, but he can be so impulsive sometimes. He's got a long way to go to becoming the calm, rational person who protects Arthur and his kingdom.
Arthur and Lancelot, though, were full of win. I agree with you, I love the times when we're shown the other kingly side of Arthur and just know how he becomes king.
I had a weakness for Lancelot's character, especially the way he behaved when he was around Gwen. Gwen and Lancelot have a sudden, surprising chemistry that the writers are still trying to work up between Gwen and Merlin.

*nods* Merlin has a long way to go, I agree. And that's going to be part of the fun of watching the show. *grin*
Everytime Arthur acts like the awesome king he is going to be I flail and squeak. I'd be embarrassing if I wasn't by myself at the time.
Lancelot/Gwen, really works for me too! I had been bracing myself for something awkward on that front but it was done really well.
Heh. It's hard to have chemistry with someone who is utterly oblivious to what's going on. Silly Merlin.
