Lucas proposes to her. Brooke says no.

This is something she is both proud of and hates.

This is progress. She is not doomed to repeat her mistakes.

Peyton doesn't visit New York once.

Brooke spends most of her free time in her room, reading books that are written by people she never fell in love with.

She’s sleeping in Lucas’ old shirt. That, she doesn’t tell Peyton.

Brooke smokes now, sometimes.

of course she does. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I SHIPPED BROOKE/SMOKING UNTIL NOW.

His voice is heavy, thick with booze, and even now Lucas’ drink, whiskey neat, pops into Brooke’s head without notice.

THANK YOU! Brooke has, and always will be, the definitive One Tree Hill character for me. I think she's so interesting and selfish and beautiful and still crazy in love with Lucas in a lot of ways, even when she settles down with Julian.

She just kind of hits all the places on my character bingo card .

You know, I had kind of forgotten, by the end of the series (because Brooke and Julian were utterly PERFECT and she definitely made off with the better deal) how very gracious Brooke was to step aside for Lucas and Peyton, and how they were kind of dicks about it and rubbed it in her face.

You've got it all crystal clear right here! She quietly acknowledges it to herself, but she's never bitter towards them, while keeping her own boundaries.
