Random Olympic thoughts, now with really bad segues!

It's official, folks: I no longer have a life.

I didn't study for the math exam I had yesterday because I was watching speed skating all day on Sunday. I got to work half an hour late today because I was watching Beckie Scott and Sarah Renner kicking ass in the cross country sprint (while eating breakfast) and I couldn't tear myself away from the ( Read more... )

Ehehehehe I definitely enjoyed your recap, it was quite cute :) I have to say I'm not as taken with them, but I think I should start because it's excellent procrastination.. (if I'm watching the Olympics instead of studying my dad'll be like "oooo Olympics!" and sit beside me.. if I'm watching muchmusic he'll come by and ask "DON'T YOU HAVE AN EXAM COMING UP?" Pfffft) Um also because they are somewhat exciting? Yes. I watched a couple of the events you're talking about, like the cross country relay thing with Beckie Scott & Sarah Renner and omg... that looked like FAR too much work for me, but I thought they did a good job. Beckie is too adorable! Also the women's hockey was too hilarious... oh man. CREAMED I tells ya. Also the skating.. lets not mention that, I was horrified too... I think we're talking about the same thing? (I thought Yaz was talking about this but aparently she was mentioning some other accident who knows?) But when the pairs couple was skating and the guy threw her and she fell and hit the boards and then they ( ... )

*nods* It's always a good idea to neglect your responsibilities and watch the Olympics instead.

And they go on for sixteen days, so they won't end until the 26th. Don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunities to watch me fangirling and/or heckling while watching TV this weekend. (Because you won't get enough of that at Stars?)

Kate posted this yesterday on the Italians:

Italian goalie Debora Montanari faced 47 shots and allowed nine goals through two periods before head coach Markus Sparer pulled her at the start of the third.

After the game, the woman who barely stands the height of the crossbar called the game one of the highlights of her life.

"Yesterday, I saw Wickenheiser and I wanted an autograph," Montanari said. "And today, we get to play with them. I don't know what the word is in English, but in Italian it's 'honoratti.'"

An honour?

"Yes," she said. "An honour. I am happy, happy, happy."

Hours later and...

I've given this much thought (because really, what the hell else am I going to do at work?) and I have come to the conclusion that, while Hendrick is not as flamey as the figure skaters listed above, he definitely has what it takes! ;)

Olympics love♥

I haven't been watching a lot of the women's hockey if only because I get too depressed and sad for the other teams. The Canada/Italy game was BRUTAL, OMG. I couldn't watch but kept looking at it because it was so morbidly fascinating.

The pairs fall was just awful, I keep getting a stomachache just thinking about it. And when they interviewed the Russian pair about what they felt when they saw that happen and the Russian woman said, "Nothing special"?! Holy crap, that's vile! I almost threw up watching it.

Johnny Weir is like a princess. His costume was awesomely bad, but his performance was spot on. And I have to go on the record as saying that I loveloveLOVE Sasha Cohen. She cracks me up for some reason, because she is so distant and robotic. She rocks.

I've been glued to speedskating (Joey Cheeks! Donating $25K to charity! Talking about genocide in his press conference), skiing (<3Giorgio Rocca<3) and skating. I've also been hysterically laughing at the performance of Bode "King of the World and Media" Miller. ( ... )

I know, I know! The Canadian women are really kicking ass, which is great, but I can't help but feel like it's the equivalent of picking on a bunch of mentally challenged kids, you know? (Not that the Italians are mentally challenged, but well, I think you probably know what I mean.) It's just not fair! It's funny/sad.

She actually said that?! OMG, I can't believe I missed it! Aaaaargh. Figure skating is just so wonderful, with all the drama and the cattiness, that I always find myself wondering why I only pay attention to it around Olympic time.

foodsthatcan informed me yesterday that the glove he was wearing was supposed to be the swan's beak. (Is this common knowledge? Am I just really slow for not having figure it out myself?) Also, he named it! He named it Camille! That is just so insanely bizarre that I think I love it. And Sasha Cohen...I swear she's almost psychotic, and I think that's what makes her so interesting to me ( ... )

It's only part of the reason but...yeah, I can't help it. Every time she smiles, I cringe. I blame my sister, who is so obsessed with teeth that it's scary.
