Oaks Day thoughts

Today is the Kentucky Oaks, the somewhat obscure race preceding the Kentucky Derby. It's a big deal roundabouts here because (a) it's a named race, and (b) it basically kicks off Derby Weekend. I went biking around the Downs this morning, just to see what's up (yes, the Oaks isn't until 5 PM, but it doesn't matter. People show up early

So the sun did shine and Dad made us mint juleps which we drank while we watched the derby from 600 miles away!
