It's Been a While!
I didn't realize I had left you all hanging for quite so long! I'm not sure I can fill you in on all the details of the last four months, but I'll try to cover the basics :)
Sofia recovered from her shunt insertion surgery quickly and happily. We noticed a change in her personality immediately, with her alertness and cognitive abilities improving ( Read more... ) -
Preparing for Discharge
Barring any unexpected setbacks, we are preparing to take Sofia home tomorrow (Sunday). She is still drowsy from her medications, but through the afternoon more of her typical disposition has gradually returned. She's even had a few smiles to spread around, although she has not quite made it back to her happy go lucky self yet. We should expect ( Read more... ) -
Surgery complete, all is well
Sofia came through surgery with flying colors, and is now resting in her room in the Transitional Care Unit. She did not have to transition in the PICU, which we had heard she might, so we are pleased to be in the same room where we slept last night ( Read more... ) -

I apologize for my long silence, I haven't had much time or felt much inclination to post, as we've been settling into routines and enjoying the summer. We spent 10 days in upstate New York in June, visiting Mark's family - including his grandfather, who turned 103! Another Clinic Day
These trips to San Francisco make for very long days; I'm ever so grateful to our families for helping keep Lucy entertained so we don't have to drag her to clinics. We left home at a little after 6am today, and got home again around 6:30pm. Thankfully, Sofia's last appointment for the day (Endocrinology) was rescheduled for Tuesday, or we would ( Read more... )
