The number of candles Isabel had burning to light up the living room would probably make a fire marshall nervous but she wasn't about to put them out.

Her laptop battery had run down, so she settled for sitting on the floor and playing solitare the old fashioned way. With a deck of cards.

"You know me," she said, flipping over a card and frowning. "I'm easily amused." Funny how that red queen suddenly turned black.

Isabel looked shocked. "Me? Never!"

Parker knocked on the door, a bag of chocolate in hand. "Is-a-bel. Are-you-in?"

"Nobody here but us chicken-books," she laughed. "Oh wait, they're gone. Thank god!"

Parker pushed the door open and wandered in. "Ours is bigger," she observed. "Then again, we've got at least thirteen people there now. I'm missing the finale to ANTM, and I'm very cranky. Entertain me!"

"I'm too lazy to get up and do a softshoe routine," Isabel said, shaking her head. "Feed me chocolate and I'll reconsider."

Luke came in and gave Isabel a tiny smile before slumping onto a sofa. "Hey."

"Hey, what's up?" she asked, giving up on solitare and starting to build a house of cards."

"I apparently suck at dating," he replied with a sigh. "Radio says Tori's going out with some Johnny guy tomorrow."

"Radio also said that Johnny was out with Jaina last night, and it said he was out with someone else the night before," Isabel pointed out. "Not to mention, if I'd actually given him an opportunity when I talked to him yesterday? He would have tried to ask me out. I wouldn't worry about it."
