Platypus Living Room - Evening

The number of candles Isabel had burning to light up the living room would probably make a fire marshall nervous but she wasn't about to put them out.

Her laptop battery had run down, so she settled for sitting on the floor and playing solitare the old fashioned way. With a deck of cards.

"You look entertained," Cedric said, sitting next to her.

"You know me," she said, flipping over a card and frowning. "I'm easily amused." Funny how that red queen suddenly turned black.

"Are you cheating?" he asked, laughing a bit.

[izzyalienqueen]

Isabel looked shocked. "Me? Never!"

[chasingsnitches]

"Unfair use of powers," he accused lightly.

[izzyalienqueen]

"Do you think the deck of cards is going to be offended?" Even with the change it didn't look like the game was going to work out, so Isabel started collecting the cards to schuffle them.

"What're you playing?" Cedric asked.

[izzyalienqueen]

"Solitare. Which is exactly what it sounds like, a card game for one person." She schuffled the deck, trying wrinkling her nose when a few cards when flying. "I know a few games for two people if you feel like playing."

[chasingsnitches]

"All right." Anything to keep his mind off goodbyes.

[izzyalienqueen]

"Good." Isabel started to deal the cards evenly between them. "Did you say good-bye to Sam?" she asked quietly.

"Yes," he said, staring at the cards.

[izzyalienqueen]

"I did to. I promised to email pictures and updates to her," she told him. "So she won't miss out on too much."

[chasingsnitches]

"I...did the same," he said slowly.

[izzyalienqueen]

"Good," Isabel nodded. "I'm sure she'll like that."

And in an attempt not to drown in emo, "How was your workshop yesterday?"

"Insane." That was the best word to describe it.

[izzyalienqueen]

"Oh? Insane even by Fandom standards?"

She flipped a card, the three of clubs, over between them. "So the game is called SlapJack."
