book babbles, fangirling and funeral season things.

THE GOOD NEWS: My family is pushing for my grandfather to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, with full honors as a World War II veteran. This will leave my Saturday open for NWA (will prolly have to charter my own way there and back though), and I won't miss my Dev of Fiction class.

THE NOT-SO-GOOD NEWS: If this really pushes through, then ( Read more... )

hanakimi, devil may cry, bibliophilia, whoring: god is in the tv, family, writer rambles, fangirlism, being as yet a lit major, comics not graphic novels!, funeral season, j-drama

just curious as to how much of a balance there is between comics theory andthe creative process. by the way, I have McCloud's Understanding Comics if that'll interest you or help out with this class (like you NEED help with this class from the looks of it...)

*lol* I've read that book twice, actually... I'm even using it as one of my primary sources for my thesis.

I highly suggest swinging over to Ateneo sometime and sitting in on any of the comics classes. Gino Bagsit is handling mine. Elbert Or is taking care of the other. Gino's more about theory, and Elbert's more on prod. Nevertheless, both have whopper final projects, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm very familiar with Elbert's class, having spoke n with him about it. i took one of the old comics classes but that was being held by the Comm dept and yours is handled by Fine Arts if I'm not mistaken. and yes, I will indeed drop by if I get some free day. Blame it on WoW and my desire of for that Netherdrake mount.

Condolonces, by the way,

Thanks. Text when you're dropping in and on which class. Maybe we can hook up for coffee afterward.

A bit too late, but condolences. :( We're at the age where people who have grown with us are one by one falling away like leaves.

Anyway, your reading list made me lick my chops. X9 I haven't read Namesake yet, though I've been eying it, and when I finish my Coatzee lineup I'll give it a try. How's her language?

Thank you. The funerals have just been rolling in since Summer 2006. It's rather eerie, actually.

On Namesake: I find the language quite nice and easy to grasp. Very... Asian, if I might make a generalization. XD I love her descriptions, and it's clear that she puts a lot of thought and insight into each phrase.

*glomp* Condolences. We'll be meeting tomorrow, hopefully, and I'll probably be hovering around you trying to make sure that you're all right.
