Holiday meme time!

Hello, everybody! I knew when I started a journal that I would be horrible at updating it. I was right, I am horrible at updating it! I was thinking of spamming everybody with my thoughts and feelings about all the manga that I waste my time reading and ~a certain series~ I recently read, but I honestly don't think anybody would be interested. Poor ( Read more... )

Awh! Well, to be honest when I saw that part of the meme I had the hardest time because I have no actually abandoned any ships. So it's more like ships which Ihave been more interested in in the past!

Yessss, that is truuuue. How are you, my dear Sorak?? I miss you!!

re: ship 9 (cannot read)

Oof, Lothiriel/Eomer as fail always raised my hackles, as I love Eomer and sometimes write Lothiriel. I'm a huge fan of Denethor/Finduilas and via RP have written some... fairly odd non-canon pairings (Amrothos/Eowyn comes to mind... I love Dol Amroth intensely) but I had never thought of trying my hand at Eomer/Lothiriel and writing an interesting Hiberno-Anglo-Saxon-Lord-meets-Venetian-Princess wonderful mind-bending political intrigue type.

I absolutely love Éomer, and I really really like Imrahil, so the idea of who Lothiriel could be and how she would relate to Éomer always appealed to me. It's a shame fanfic did not deliver, but then again I have very high standards, specially for LotR fiction. I really like the scenario as you interpret it, and I would totally read that fic!

Do you have your work on Lothiriel published somewhere? I would quite enjoy reading it.

Re: Amrothos/Éowyn. That's one pairing I would never have thought of. How did you imagine it would work out?

I don't think any of my Lothiriel stuff is lurking anywhere, and even if it was, there is the risk it would not be very good... I last wrote Lothiriel when I was, I dunno, 17 or 18? I wrote her for a game, for a while, the game wasn't strict-canon and she was an officer in the Dol Amrothian fleet and a bit of a troublemaker. There have been a lot of words between there and now, and I would write her differently if I was trying it again.

Amrothos/Eowyn originally came out of a game, but the most canon-compliant version was that when Imrahil's children showed up for the coronation, Amrothos (a captain of a ship) was smitten with the sad blonde lady and he was more attentive to her than Faramir (being steward isn't easy) and Imrahil subtly encouraged this behavior, because he wanted more political alliances for Dol Amroth. They weren't terribly happy, though, huge culture differences led to a lot of misunderstandings.

Haaa, I see! I certainly wouldn't want anyone seeing my writing from years ago. While 'Amrothian fleet' is certainly interesting what I would really like to see is political intrigue, like you mentioned, diplomacy and maybe possibly (my pet scenario) her temporarily governing Dol Amroth.

It sound sound like a terribly sad story. I'm a huge Éowyn/Faramir shipper and it would simply break my heart. Nice to see a different approach to Amrothos, though. What I've seen of him has mostly been womanizer and immature little brother.

...is that...is that Luther from Bite Me? The German werewolf? Who is not a vampire, no indeed? Backstory for him?

DO WANT.

YES! Well, sort of, according to Dylan Meconis. The new comic about him and his (apparently his wife in Bite Me!, omg), Ariana is the one I linked, yes. Though it appears they are actually not connected canons, despite the shared characters. Nevertheless, it is a delight and if you liked Bite Me! you should totally read it.

Oh, Kataang. <333 It was also my first major ship.
Gosh, I'd completely forgotten about Éomer and Lothiriel. Haha it's been ages since I've read through the LoTR appendixes. ^^; (And about two years since I've re-read the Silmarillion.) Haha, I'm really feeling the need to re-read the entire series.

Kataaaang. It will always have a sizeable piece of my shippy heart.

Ha, gosh, I know, right? It's been a while since I've last read LotR and now that I don't have my copies with me I really wish I could, or had just before going away. I wouldn't blame anybody for forgetting about them altogether, seeing as the marriage, and Lothiriel are something like one-line mentions, haha.
