On my way to work, I was listening (as I sometimes do) to the local Christian radio station. They don't play great music, but it's better than some of the other stations, and the Morning Show amuses me

SWEET! That rocks! I want X-Files DVDs so I can watch some of the good ones again. Sometimes I miss it. But that's a fun thing to happen on the morning Christian radio show. Heeee. I hope it is a sign of a good day to come.
I'm tending to think X-Files is the present's Twilight Zone. (The original, black and white and thin, dark-suited Rod Serling chain-smoking his way through his introductions) Both were scary, well-done and had a cult following, but I just don't know if Twilight Zone was considered unkosher by Christian groups at the time. I suppose at least the tone of The Obsolete Man might have mollified them a bit. That would be interesting to find out.

Interesting thought. Yes, that's quite possible. I'm fairly sure that the "unkosher"ness of XF is more related to the violent content than the supernatural content (though I'd have to do real research to know if that's actually true).
I wonder if they were playing "The Truth" by DCTalk? Because that has the X-Files theme in it at some points, but it's a Christian band, so maybe they didn't realize what they were playing...?
I don't know; I do know that song, and this sounded different. More like a made-for-soundtrack version of the XF theme than the DCTalk version (which has guitar).
For some reason this reminds me of the time my aunt woke up thinking she'd died in her sleep and awoken in heaven, because her son was playing the theme from Close Encounters of the Third Kind at full volume on his fancy new stereo system.
