I realize that some other countries do not have mail delivery on Saturday. However, we in the good ol' US of A are accustomed to that. It's been mandatory since 1983.

Today, we discover that because of the financial crisis, we may be down to 5 days a week of delivery...huh ( Read more... )

I admit I have no idea - I think it's only Monday-Friday but since we have a postbox for just about everything bar junk mail, and the PO is open Saturday morning...

Yes, it's only Monday to Friday here, except sometimes in the Christmas season they might deliver on Saturday morning, but it's the exception.

Imagine having to work on Saturday! No wonder the phrase "going Postal" originated in the US.

Um, really? Only Americans work on weekends? You don't have restaurants or groceries or power and water and hospital care and buses on weekends? Too bad.

We still have six days a week postal delivery in the UK, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go in the next year or two.

I think possibly this makes me a bad person, but my very first reaction to this was "Awesome, now the mail pile on Mondays won't be so ridiculously huge!"

Oh poop, not only am I a bad person, I'm also stupid. *headdesk* I blame the cold for me thinking that somehow fewer deliveries would equal less mail. I have no idea how I thought that was supposed to work. (It's the cold's fault, I tell you!)

Ha, you beat me to it! I have a friend who is a postal worker, and she hates the day after a long weekend--they practically get buried in mail.
