I'm not sure what the deal is with the Alliance and Horde lately. Maybe something in my brain's wired funky, I dunno. Maybe I didn't play enough Halo before joining WoW. Fucked if I know or care. People throw squalling fits whenever I classify Varian as a "Jerk Sam." And when I try to explain myself, that causes further squalling fits. He could be an interesting, flawed but strong character...well, first off, if he'd been handled by better authors...but mainly, if everyone around him didn't kowtow to him. However, the fact remains that they do.

And as for Garrosh? Holy Fucking Light. The little bastard is as nutty as his dad-without the excuse of having chugged demon blood-but lacks any of the elder Hellscream's cunning. (I still maintain that the best-case scenario is that he gets chomped by Deathwing after Leeroying.)

But nooooo...people see this crap, and just say "ZOMG, now there's lore supporting PvP! Kewl!" As if I give a damn; I play this game to kill the dragons, as it were. (I swear...why does does anonymity seem to turn people into sociopathic twelve-year-olds? Never mind, that's a rant in its own right.)

Nonetheless, I literally applauded the epithet "Heckwhimper."

He doesn't and never will deserve his father's last name. Hellscream got the name for a hellish scream that made pretty much anything with bowels within a mile of him shit their pants, and he got his reputation by working for it. Garrosh has done nothing but ride on his father's coattails and nearly get champions of the Horde killed.

Err, sorry if this is too long but LJ is forcing me to break this post up.

I personally find it disgusting how Blizzard is handling Jaina's character. It's unoriginal and makes no sense when the woman who had so much trust from her people that she managed to take them to another previously unknown continent based on a dead guys vague warnings, unite them with the same people that had spent the last twenty years fighting with in order to defeat a greater evil, and establish a presence and community that is successful enough to have an influence with the rest of the world despite that it has very little political and economical power is kick ass. I don't get this whining about Arthas, an ex she was dumped by ten years ago and kind of responsible for the destruction of the human alliance, not to mention all this deference to Varian and crying. This is the woman who had her father killed in order to ensure that a war would be avoided between her people and the Horde. She does not cry over BS like that. Otherwise, I appreciate the additions! I had like three things to take care of in one post so I had to do a fuckton of skimming, your assessment of Jaina's derailment was spot-on.

Nah, I just don't understand why the writers are doing this. I suppose having a raging hormonal douche for a leader is...fun? but I don't see how it's improving sales nor the story.

I would really like it if they switched up the factions or something. Could you imagine the awesomeness of that. Or would at least let us raise rep with faction cities. Damn that'd be cool.

I'm hoping against all hope that one day they'll let you defect to a neutral faction. I'd be happy to relinquish all ability to PvP if it meant I didn't have to put up with The Chin or Heckwhimper as my ostensible leaders, especially when I do more work for the Argent Crusade, Kirin Tor, and Sha'tar separately than I ever will for the Alliance or Horde, depending on the character.

Once I made an arguement that said that Blizzard would never cow-tow to the QQ's of the playerbase when it comes to their story, but thinking about this whole thing makes me wonder if I was wrong about that. This whole Varian vs. Garrosh thing seems to be just that: Blizzard putting in some plot elements that would make the PvP fanbase more happy ( ... )
