A picspam for challenge fourteen over at
picspammy - End of the Decade.
This list definitely started out a lot longer, but this took me longer than I thought it would, so I got lazy and ended up with just thirteen. Random number, I know. But whatever. I can't even be bothered to do an Honorable Mentions art. I just have a few more spams planned before the end of the year, and I need to get this one done and posted. So yeah, I'm sorry to all the characters I couldn't do, and all that. Oh, and I didn't include Buffy or Friends in this at all, because they both started in the 90s. So did Popular, but only the first part of S1, so I decided it counted!
Honorable Mentions:
Wallace Fennel (Veronica Mars), Emily Gilmore (Gilmore Girls), Roxanna Bojarski and Meg Pryor (American Dreams), Izzie Stevens (Grey's Anatomy), Sam McPherson (Popular), Alex Dupre (One Tree Hill), Spencer Carlin (South of Nowhere), Manny Santos (Degrassi), Rusty Cartwright (Greek), Dr. Perry Cox (Scrubs), Reggie Lass (Dead Like Me) and Trish Wellington (Harper's Island).

{ Tony Hale, Arrested Development }
I was late to the party with Arrested Development, and only just watched the show this year, but after all the hype it gets everywhere, I figured that I needed to see it for myself! While I really enjoyed it and thought it was funny, I didn't think it was as amazing as everyone said. And it's not because I didn't get all the references or inside jokes or anything, since I always have to check forums and TWoP (even if I hate half the people there) when I watch old things, just to get a feel for everything. Okay, so this turned into a AD write up! Back to Buster - Hilarious. Just, every single thing he said or did made me lol just because of the way Tony Hale played him. He was just amazing, whether he was upset, or angry or happy, just never not funny to me. The whole plot of him getting his hand biten off by a shark, so he had to have a hook? Best plot ever! I loved everytime he yelled 'I'm a monster!!!!!'

{ Dianna Agron, Glee }
I'm a horribly shallow person, I admit that, so when I first starting watching Glee, I knew that Quinn would be my favorite because she was the best looking one. But, at the time, I had only ever seen her on the show, so she was in her Cheerios uniform and her hair was up, so I didn't think she was that pretty. Obviously, now, I have no idea who the fuck I was seeing back then, because she's obviously like the most beautiful thing to ever walk the earth or something. I'm serious, okay? I remember watching the Puck/Quinn food fight scene in Wheels, and literally, like gasping at how fucking pretty she looked in one of the shots. Like, gah. Anyway, enough about her looks. Lets talk about how glad I am that Ryan Murphy made sure that I had more reasons to love Quinn than just her being pretty. Because she's just a kick ass character all together! As much as I hate the pregnancy, I do love all the character development that came with it. There's nothing I love more than Quinn showing genuine love to the glee club. It just fills me with all kinds of joy, you don't even know. I'm so excited to see what they do with her in the back nine, now that the baby daddy drama is done, and she's decided to ~do it on her own. It'll be interesting to see her character outside of boys. Also, I just love her name.

{ Kaley Cuoco, 8 Simple Rules }
Oh man, I was so in love with Bridget back in the day. I have this thing where I tend to really love two characters on a show, one that's more pretty and has more personality, like Bridget, and then the more mellow one, like Kerry. And it's always hard for me to say which one is my favorite, because I'm more entertained by the first one, because she's funnier and everything, and I think because of that, she's the better character, but I tend to care more for the other one. Does that makes sense at all? Anyway, after rewatching all of my S1 DVDs not that long ago, I was reminded of how awesome and hilarious Bridget was, and how well Kaley played her. I just love that even though she was the most popular girl in school and everything, she didn't seem to be a bitch. Just stupid. I miss her.

{ Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl }
I love me some Blair Waldorf, and I think Leighton plays her to perfection. I think she's always hilarious when she's being bitchy, and always heartbreaking when she's being sad, but I'm just not, idk, that invested? Like, earlier this season, when everyone was hating on her for being whiney and out of character and stuff, I didn't mind her at all, because I'm not that invested in the character or show, if that makes sense? I just loled when she said or did something funny. I remember when the show first started, that I thought she'd be way more bitchy and fierce, like Nicole from Popular or Regina George, but somewhere along the line, I totally started to see her that way. Like, obvs not as mean as them, but very hbic-ish. Anyway, one of my favorite aspects of Blair is how fleshed out she is for the popular bitch, and that it's not simply down to the fact that wah wah, my parents don't love me, kinda thing. Yes, Eleanor was absent at the beginning, but it wasn't like that her whole life and she obvs loved her. I like that her issues are more because of Serena and Nate and all that stuff. Now, if only the writers could write her a bit more consistantly again, we'd be in business!

{ Taylor Momsen, Gossip Girl }
Yes, that's right, I love Jenny! Anyone that knows me knows that I'm very predictable with my ships, as well as with my characters, and back in S1, she was the little sister character, the good girl, and that's right up my alley. I tend to love both the bitch and the good girl. So yeah, my love started from the beginning, and has continued, despite all the rapid and sometimes random character changes or developments with Jenny. I do prefer when she's not being ~queen, but that tends to get her more screentime, so who am I to complain? Plus, that tends to get her more interaction with Blair, which is my favorite dynamic on the show, so again, I can't complain. I do wish they had handled the current queen thing a bit different, but I still love her, and am on her team, because I think Eric was being a big baby and that Jonathon instigated the whole thing, so whatevs. I'm interested in seeing where this Damien/drug dealer stuff goes, too. I don't have much faith in the writers, but you never know! I trust Taylor to rock it.

{ Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory }
Oh, Sheldon. I don't even know what I was expecting when I first started watching the show, but it wasn't that! It's always hilarious to watch the Pilot now, and see how different he was back then, with him clearly flirting with Penny, and that he was at all written as an even semi-sexual creature, lol. It's been so much fun to watch how much Sheldon has grown over the course of the show already, thanks to Penny, even though it might not seem like that much for another character. But obvs the last thing I'd want is for him to change too much, because Sheldon wouldn't be Sheldon. His hilariously bitchy and rude comments are the best part of the show, and anytime they get a chance to put him into a situation he's uncomfortable with, it makes me happy. I just wish they wouldn't beat up on him so much this season. I swear every episode he's wrong, or crying or getting screwed over by his friends! I get that he'd be hella annoying irl, but be nice, guys! Like Penny said, he might seem like a robot, but he's really full of love!

{ Minka Kelly, Friday Night Lights }
Yeah, I don't care what anyone says, I love Lyla. I get the hate for her during most of season one, because of the cheating. I mean, she was hardly my favorite character during that time either, but towards the end of the season, after Jason cheated on her, and Buddy cheated on her mom, and she just got all pissed off and fierce, I loveeed her. Omg, I still remember my amazement at the scene where she yells at Jason to stop being a big baby ('Next time you want a glass of water, say please' will always be one of my favorite lines evah), it was so killer. And of course, her just randomly driving the car through Buddy's dealership window! That was so random. They never did follow up on that, did they? Anyway, so yeah, she was kick ass at the end of S1, and I've loved her like whoa since then. My favorite Lyla scene ever is her deleted scene from State, though. If you've never seen it ... find a way to watch it, it's hilarious and amazing. Anyway, while her Christian storyline started out promising, with her hilariously bitchy prayer to her mother and her boyfriend ('Please give us the strength to remember that a mother of three should not be wearing skinny jeans'), it got blah, so thank God they dropped that in S3. Which reminds me, Drunk!Lyla! Love. I wish her return this season wasn't all about Tim. Oh wells.

{ Aimee Teegarden, Friday Night Lights }
This is another example of me loving the youngest, cutest character by default at the beginning, but then really loving her as the show went on. It helps that I think Aimee's face is pretty much perfect. Like, seriously. Look at it! That girl is stunning. Anyway, yes, I love Julie. I think she's the cutest, even when she's being a brat. I know so many people just hated her in S2, but I totally got her, and still loved her. I think they did a good job of always showing why she was acting the way she was, even if it wasn't always justifiable. Also, I could totally relate, as I was a little bitch for at least a year of my life, so I felt her. I like that they had her get over it though, and it only comes out to play sometimes now, lol. Now that Matt is gone, I'm really excited to see what they're gonna do with her character, because being bratty and being Matt's girlfriend is pretty much all we've ever seen of her character, so I wanna know what they're gonna do. What her college and career plans are! Also, she needs to hang with Tim, please.

{ Willa Holland, The OC }
Oh man. Kaitlin Cooper. Okay, so when I first started watching the OC (the first episode I watched live was 201, and I watched the S1 DVDs after), I had such a weird fascination/obsession with this kid. It's like the way some people are with the football players/Cheerios on Glee, where they're just these little side characters that you're not supposed to care about, but you do anyway. It's probs because I love a good little sister, I don't know. Anyway, I used to lol anytime they mentioned her after they shipped her off to bordering school, and the fact that she was just this forgotten afterthought was a running joke. BUT THEN, they recasted her and brought her back for a real arc/storyline, and I was so fucking excited, you don't even know. I'm pretty sure most people hated her in S3, but I still loved her (and her relationship with Marissa), if only because I refused to not love her after all that time, lol. Again, BUT THEN, S4 happened and she was a regular, and she was really amazing and hilarious and I loved her like whoa. I never would have thought I'd see the day when Mini Coop became a regular, but it happened! I loved how cool she was, and how even though she wasn't the most popular girl in school, she didn't care, because she knew she was awesome. Also, I love that on a teen drama, she only had a love interest for all of two seconds during the whole season. But ew, it was Chris Brown.

{ Autumn Reeser, The OC }
I always see people say that they hated Taylor at first, but eventually loved her, whether it took until S4, or if it was just when she became friends with Seth and Summer, and I'm always bummed because I honestly can never remember how I felt about her when she first came on. I think I liked her! I know I didn't hate her, at least. I think I thought she was funny, even if she was a bitch, and I couldn't hate her? Sounds like me. Anyway, I do remember that after her scene with Seth in the alleyway or whatever, at the party, when she blows up about how pathetic she is, and how she has no friends and stuff, I started to love her. And then she was all nice to Summer and was a good friend to her, something Summer totally needed, and even though she was crazy, it was so endearing and adorable. When I found out that she was gonna be a regular in S4, I was so stoked. Personally, I've always thought she ~saved the OC, and breathed new life into it, but that's just me. I feel like her character was totally one of a kind, and Autumn played her amazingly. She was one of those characters where she could say the most crazy or random thing, and it didn't surprise you. It was just like, of course. Like only sleeping four hours! I loved how involved she was with everyone in S4, and wasn't just off in her own storyline. She really became part of the ~gang and they accepted her, and you know she didn't take that for granted.
03.
{ Leslie Grossman, Popular }
I have to say this right off the bat, just throwing this out there, but - I pretty much think that Mary Cherry is the
greatest character ever created. There, I said it. Like, I honestly can't think of a character that is better than her, when I look at it in general. Like, she's not number one, because she's a crazy, retarded bitch, so I can't get ~invested in her like I do my first two favs, but you know what I mean, right? It's like when you watch two movies and know that one is technically better, but you enjoyed the other one more? It comes back to the thing I said about Kerry and Bridget. Like, I think Sam might have been my favorite Popular character, in the other way, but yeah. Mary Cherry is the one on this list. MOVIING ON, she's amazing. Like, she's the most over the top person ever, and like Buster, anything she says is hilarious to me because of the way Leslie Grossman plays her. I remmeber her saying on one of the DVD commentaries that when coming up with MC's accent, she used a bunch of different ones, and just tried to use one that would make any acting coach cringe, and that made me lol because it made perfect sense. She's just all over the place, and she's basically not real. I know Popular in general was very campy and you had to suspend your belief a lot, but Mary Cherry was a whole other level! Her smile? Amazing! And I love that she was pretty one sided. Like, other than that one scene with Harrison in the limo, when she explained why she called him Joe, I can't really think of another scene where she was ~serious and real. Priceless. Plus, how amazing is it that everyone calls her by her full name? I can't imagine just calling her Mary, lol.
02.
{ Sophia Bush, One Tree Hill }
I always dread getting to Brooke/Sophia or Haley/Joy in these things, because I never know what to say. I always feel like I've talked about all four of them a billion times by now, because they always have, and always will be, the owners of my heart, more than anyone ever, you know? They're always on these lists, and I've said everything there is to say about them. I'll try though. I love Brooke Penelope Davis, and always have. She's awesome, and amazing, and perfect! She's grown so damn much over the course of the show, more than any other character, and I love every single version of her. I definitely prefer high school Brooke to grown up Brooke, but I love her all the same. Plus, I have a special place in my heart for Mom!Brooke, since I loved Brooke/Sam so damn much in S6! But yes, I just think this girl has so much in her heart to give, and I just really wish that she'd finally find someone to really give all of it to, that will accept it and understand how special it/she is, and give it right back to her. She deserves that, after all of this time. Stop making her miserable, Mark! She better have the most perfect ending in the series finale. Preferably including Sam!
01.
{ Bethany Joy, One Tree Hill }
Like I already said above, what is there to say that I haven't already said? Nobody is surprised that she's number one, a least not if you're on my friends list or know anything about me. Even strangers probably know by now though! Haley is just my favorite. She doesn't need any angst in her past to make her interesting or evolve her character, she doesn't need to have lots of issues or insecurities or anything. Not that there isn't anything wrong with all of that, but I just like that she's different by not having that. Really, I think it would be easy for someone like Haley to come off all Mary Sue-ish, but Joy's talent, and Mark's disbelief that anyone would find Haley attractive makes sure that doesn't happen. She's just a simple kinda girl, very easy to relate to, and I don't know, okay?! She's just amazing, all around. Plus, she's like the best friend, wife, mother, sister, anything, ever. She doesn't fuck people over, she's never selfish, etc. But she forgives way too easily, if you ask me. And she never complains about it. Maybe because her fans do it for her! I totally miss her being a teacher though! Love that we get more Joy music, but don't love the actual storyline.
finish.
