Kagome breathed deeply, embracing the scents of autumn within her lungs, in the lands of the Lord of the West. The very land thrummed with his power- strong, soothing and luxurious.
It had taken a bit of effort before the lands had stopped rebelling with her presence. The shroud of peace that wrapped around her that like an incorporeal stole was in part due to its acceptance and in part to the taiyoukai who sat beside her.
“See, I told you the view would help make your tea much more palatable.”
“It is still a barbaric practice. It will admit that it amused me to comply with your request but I admit nothing else.”
Kagome smiled around the rim of the tea cup on her lips. “Of course my Lord’ she said indulgently with a teasing side-note. “Will my lord like some more tea? I’ve made entirely too much.”
He held out his cup acquiescently. She took it and filled it with the steady hand of a miko who had seen too many battles.
“It was my father’s motto as ruler,” he spoke suddenly, “Peace and plenty.”
Kagome pressed the tea cup comfortingly in his hands and her fingers lingered
