Running in Circles
Hakaku’s legs were sore.
He’d been racing around trying to keep up with the three kids as they played.
He was older than them, but he wasn’t that old!
He sat with Ginta under a tree. His legs were sore all the same.
It was good to watch the young ones run around.
Their girl could keep up with the boys.
She might not be as strong as them when she grew older, but she could be quick.
Kouga was quick, too. Maybe it was genetic.
He and Ginta weren’t that slow.
After they had tired everyone out with a game of tag he went to collect her.
When she saw him coming she ran up and hugged him.
“Who is that?” one of the boys asked.
“One of my other brothers,” she said.
He felt a swell of pride at that.
