9:15 am this morning. I'm sitting in the manager's pit (it backs up to the front windows) getting the deposit ready. A woman walked up to the front doors of the darkened store and tugs on the door handles. They're locked, of course. She looks down at the sign that says we open at 10 am. She rattles them again. You know, I think that's it in a nutshell. I also think that most of the time it's distilled down into a Neanderthal knee-jerk reaction of "Me want! Gimme!" But it's the same thing, just more primitive.

People are stupid all the time. We had an event that was free. The fact that it was free was very clearly indicated in bold letters on the flyer, as that's what we figured would bring people in. Someone e-mailed me to ask me if there was a fee for the event.

What part of free was hard to understand.

Oh god. A dime, just gimme one dime for every time someone did and/or said something stupid simply because they weren't paying attention to what was right in front of their face. I'd be living in indolent luxury and wouldn't have to deal with these morons.
