So the winter mix storm warning has been canceled and instead we have a blizzard warning with significant snow accumulation through 6 pm tomorrow. Rick just called and wants to postpone until Sunday. He doesn't like the thought of me driving around unnecessarily in those conditions ( Read more... )

Because it was supposed to still be snowy through most of today we postponed the holiday for one more day. I'm going to pick him up tomorrow. It's supposed to be almost freezing. *G* But there's also supposed to be sun.

What was it like up in Chicago? I had freaking snow drifts a couple of feet high on my balcony! I haven't really been outside in 3 days.

Finally, sun!

We got snow, too, but it doesn't sound as if it was as bad. On xmas eve it was freezing rain. Tree branches were encased in ice! Then the next day it turned to snow and out in the 'burbs we got a couple of inches. Sis and her hubby said driving was miserable once they hit Illinois...ice under the snow on the roads. Sooooo...it is extremely good (and safe and smart) that you guys have postponed your holiday dinner!

Today we saw several suspect drivers on the road. Either they were drunk (in the afternoon!) or their tires were bald and they were slipping all over the place.

We were supposed to get freezing rain and sleet on Thurs night and Fri but it veered off. They only ice we had was the rain already down that froze when the temps dropped quickly. Little bit of sleet, but mostly just snow. I'm not sure how many inches but the wind was incredible! Sometimes during lulls when it had quite snowing it still looked like it because the wind was whipping it around so much. At one point I looked outside and it looked like it was snowing up because of a strong updraft. Weird!

I'll finally venture out tomorrow around noon. Hopefully the streets will be mostly clear by then.
