Shore on Season 8, Cuddy Leaving and Series Finale Possibilities

Aug 08, 2011 23:25

From @TVTherapy 's interview to Shore, bits about Lisa and Cuddy:

What would you say to the fans that are really upset about Lisa Edelstein leaving?

David Shore: I'd tell them I'm upset too! You, know I am. I'd say, I'm sorry, and I'm upset too. It was not what I wanted. I would say this though. I would genuinely say--by saying genuinely it's ( Read more... )

When I read this "I have no idea if it would be possible. I can't say any more than that." I think that after Lisa refused to come back for a cameo, they wrote her out definitely.

Making it impossible for Cuddy to ever come back. As they did for Kutner (even if we know Cuddy isin't dead).

Just a thought.

That would be my guess too. Whichever way they write out Cuddy it will be permanent and ugly.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but the undercurrent I'm getting is that he is pissed Lisa had the balls to walk away from their shoddy treatment.

I'm inclined to believe this as well. Shore (the idiot that he is) still plays things closer to the vest and is a little more diplomatic in conversation. GY on the other hand just lashes out for incendiary effect; but if he is to be believed (I know, take it with a silo of salt) Lisa won't be back AT ALL for season 8. If that's true then I don't even have to half-assedly keep up with the show waiting for a cameo. I can completely quit (like I want) and never look back.

You've got to learn, you know?

Is he serious with this shit? House victimizes Cuddy, but she's the one who needs to learn something? And what would that lesson be? To never date someone? To never let another man touch her arm? To learn that she belongs to House? I can't with this misogynistic bullshit. What a repulsive, disgusting, dangerous message. He should be ashamed of himself.

this is what shocks me the most in this.
it's basically as if he'd told a rape victim but dear you knew not to wear this open front shirt and those heels and go in that neighborhood. you asked for it!

I cant believe he puts the blame on Cuddy once again!
no wonder the man is clueless as to what he did wrong last season especially in the finale and refuses to take responsability or acknowledge that what House did was not OK!

as if the weeks of hurting Cuddy prior to that insane crash were not enough, he's trying to get a free pass and putting everything on Cuddy.

I loath these thoughts, ideas, message and I'm really gld LE walked out after this.

I don't normally comment here, but I feel you've misinterpreted what he said. I'm 99.999999999% positive the "you" in "you've got to learn" is House.

I don't particularly agree with his stance on the "should" part of that question. I feel like "could" is open for discussion, but 'should" he be forgiven? That feels like a big "no" to me.

I don't know. Given the victim blaming we've already seen from TPTB, given the way they have tried to defend House's behavior, I can't see Shore referring to House in that sentence.

to me it sounded more like that DS doesn't know if Lisa wants to come back.

Her leaving was definitely not something that happened in mutual agreement and maybe it even happened on bad terms.

In my opinion David Shore doesn't think that Lisa is willing to come back to the show.

Of course it's only what I think.. but then again.. I wasn't there ;)

"to me it sounded more like that DS doesn't know if Lisa wants to come back."

Maybe.....Or, another option, he doesn't know if SHE CAN come back, after the negotiations' fallout?!

Just to make what he said clear, I believe Shore was referring to Cuddy learning to steer clear of House in the future. Like he severely screwed up and now it's time for her to learn he is no good for her.

oh and how many times has DS defended House crashing Cuddy's car??!!
It's a broken record by now !! " He didn't mean to hurt/kill anyone' bla bla blabla bla..

Does he seriously think anyone agrees with him?
I haven't seen one reviewer/critic that didn't question House's action and the morality of them. It was unanimous, this time he went too far and actually might have physically hurt someone. (let alone scar someone mentally for life)

DS never addresses the real issue, i.e., why Lisa E left: the crappy deal they offered her after destroying her character as well as House. In other words, why all the negativity, cynicism and craven story lines w. hookers, strippers, mail-order brides, petty quarrels instead of real relationships, etc. were necessary. Were they incapable of writing "grown-up" scripts? Did they think they had to cater to young, hormonal teenage boys grown up on crass video games only? Some reflection, showing that maybe they at least have thought about what the heck they did last season, would be nice. Too much to expect, obviously. "[House] was trying to hurt [Cuddy's] house" is insulting viewers' intelligence, period.
