Perhaps it's just one of those nights when she can't sleep - she's been thinking about Jasmina a lot, lately. At any rate, Scheherazade might timidly knock, even if the door is open.

She could use some company, and Adrian always cheers her up.

"That would be nice," Adrian agrees - and perhaps feasible. "I was wondering -- not for me, mind you -- can you have, like, weddings here? And other events?"

Hopefully it was, though it was definitely the hardest!

Scherehazade's eyebrow go up. "Weddings? --- hm, I don't know, I haven't been here a very long time."

And then a pause.

"Adrian, how long have you known this young lady?"

He thinks a bit, and then it suddenly occurs to him -- "Scheherezade! This is scandalous!" he teases, bursting into laughter. "I wasn't asking for me! -- actually, of the two of us, you're the one who'd look good as a bride!"

She colors brightly. Then shakes her head. "--- Adrian, he hasn't spoken!"

Because of course that can't come from her. Silly boy.

It takes a while till he decodes the message, but he does so in the end, and he looks at Schery with amusement. "So you'd like to."

"... I .. I don't know." She just never thought it a possibility.

[iwalkindreams]

"Alright." He laughs. "Forget that I ask. It's just that -- I've never thought of it either, but it has always fascinated me to see other people doing it."

[vizir_daughter]

"I don't know that it's done here, Adrian. There are no priests, no places of worship... at least, if there are, I haven't seen them..."

"Honestly, you're right. Me neither," he confirms after a pause. "It's still a funny tradition, if you ask me - bizzarre, er -- not amusing." He's a biiit lost, can you tell? "Briefly. I think I'm sometimes fascinated with the most unexpected things."

She stiffens a little. "You find marriage funny, Adrian?" She squints at him a bit. "It is not. It is a lethal business, for some."

[iwalkindreams]

"Hmmm. Not necessarily funny, no. Rather -- fascinating. Like, I could never understand why people do it. Particularly certain people, like, say, my parents, who had to stay married for the sake of appearances till my mother died. That was... odd."

[vizir_daughter]

"I suppose it would be," she replies. "I don't remember my mother much - but I think my father loved her until the end."

[iwalkindreams]

He's silent for a moment. "Does this mean that your mother passed away -- too?" Just like his?

[vizir_daughter]

She nods. "I wasn't very old - my little sister Jasmina never quite knew her."

Jasmina being the equivalent to Duniazad in the musical, wtf.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I'm in the same situation - I think my mother was sick for a very long time before she was gone." He's silent for a while. "My father never really got over it."
