My son lives in a house with pale blue walls, patterned blue fabric on the furniture, deep blue rugs on the floor and blue paintings on the walls- yet when he came to show me his co-cop art homework, a drawing in monochromatic colors, he'd managed to do it wrong. Then he argued with me for fifteen minutes about the definition of "monochromatic".

He drew his Converse high tops with blue stars and the rest was black and white.

I just walked into the living room and he was sitting on the blue couch in blue jeans and a blue sweater lounging on a blue pillow. How can a kid who lives in a monochromatic house not get this concept.

It started with the blue walls because our old roommate's blue paintings were so calming to me. He gave me a few of the paintings so then there were the walls and the paintings in blue. After that it seemed like every time I added anything new I veered towards blue. I guess I need a lot of calming influences around me!
