It's funny that you mention that, because I've been feeling the same way about the new series. Not that I won't watch it, but that I'll quietly disown the parts of the story that tie too much into the old show (aka defying my headcanon). I feel I'll probably turn the new series into good fanfic--squeal over the parts I like and allowing them their own SILLY BRYKE opinions on what happened.

I haven't started reading The Promise yet but I'm hoping to read it soon.
