Since Legend of Korra is coming out soon, I've been thinking of rewatching ATLA. I'm over my initial hyper 'wanna see' reaction and am now of mixed feelings. Not because I think it's going to suck or anything, but because I enjoyed the original so much that I'm not sure how to feel about the sequel. (Once again, I'm not upset about the sequel or think there shouldn't be one, I might just not want to watch it.) I think it's because I built up so much headcanon over the old show, and I got so attached to it, that watching something so new in the same universe is almost a turn-off to me. And yet I really do enjoy seeing clips of the new show, and even reading The Promise, the ATLA comic that came out recently.

I actually *did* enjoy reading The Promise, since it deals with the effects of colonialism and shifting people around that I'd initially tried to deal with when I wrote an ATLA chapter fic that went nowhere. (Computer went boom, followed quickly by will to write the rest of the fic.) I'm glad they're going into it because I wasn't satisfied with the idea of the war being over once they stripped Ozai of his bending and ousted him from the throne. I also like the effects of dealing with the Fire Nation post-war and how stressed and out of his league Zuko is. I hope we get a peek at Azula and hopefully, dammit, Zuko finds his mom.

Seriously, that's all I wanted out of the series. Let Zuko reunite with his damn mom.
