And what, like an hour later, the article has changed and he's 'rethinking his decision not to burn the books because he was clearly lied to'. Ugh, what a creep. If you don't like being called on your shit, don't say it!
The creepiest. My dad suggested that maybe he just received a prank call from someone pretending to be Imam Rauf and he fell for it. That wouldn't surprise me.
I'm fairly sure the guy was buckling to the pressure of the entire world, including Sarah Palin and the Pope, saying that book burning is Wrong and Bad and so very Not Christian, so he came up with a stupid lie to attempt to make it look like he'd won all along. Then he got his ass called on it and started flailing and backpedaling.
I'd feel better if an hour or so later I didn't check into AOL and see the article now has the guy saying he might do the burning after all because he's been 'clearly lied to'. NO, YOU ARE JUST FULL OF SHIT AND GOT CALLED ON IT. DEAL.
I'd say ignore him, but jerks like him CAN'T be ignored. All he's doing is making a fool of himself and gathering more support for the very people he's hoping to protest.
Totally bad villian. Where's the hero to kick his butt?
Yeah, I'd say ignoring him would be more harmful than acknowledging the horrible things he's doing. Such a public backlash and such obvious, universal disapproval is doing more good. Especially when religious heads, like the Pope, get involved in the condemnation. Since he's doing this in the name of his religion, it really invalidates his argument when other Christian figures get involved.
We definitely need a superhero. Maybe Jon Stewart or Rachel Maddow? Or a team-up of the two!
That man...he simultaneously makes me laugh at the sheer absurdity of his viewpoints, and seethe in anger that anyone who claims to be a Christian could possibly act with so much hate. That's MY religion you're shitting all over, jackass!
Thank God so few people seem to take him seriously.
Yes, he finally called it off for good, claiming that his point had been made by the death threats he received. I personally think that his point was disproved by the sheer amount of public moral outrage he received across the religious and international spectrum.
Yeah. As I believe you said in an above comment, you know when the POPE decides to condemn you, especially as another Christian, you're probably doing something wrong.
I have a dim view on the current Pope, so I was impressed when he spoke up against the book burning. I wasn't sure how effective he'd be, though, since Jones isn't Catholic.

Well, not the bullshit about "being told they'll move the mosque", but the rest of it is a breath of fresh air.

Maybe he should get fifty of 'god's flyovers' of geese, and they all can crap on his church. Jesus says: SON, YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT.
