just an idle thought

If you could send a message out in space, with the guarantee of it reaching someone out there, what would it be? What would it say?

i don't know what crack i'm smoking, aliens, musings, whimsical

I wouldn't know what to send, honestly. Probably something along the lines of 'If you find us, remember that the strongest don't necessarily dictate what we all mean."

That or 'Please don't destroy us."

LOL, no idea.

*lol* 'Please don't destroy us' is always an excellent piece of advice to give.

I've been wondering about it ever since I saw the little clip of the thing they sent in space with people all talking and saying 'hello'. If aliens find it, it's not like they'll understand the language or anything. It would be funny if they decided it meant we were coming in for a hostile takeover.

Hahah, yea. They get it and listen to it and just think;

"Crap this thing goes on for HOURS! We are so boned!"

But in their...yanno..alien language.

I'd love to hear aliens speaking slang like: "We are so boned!" I wish the first alien encounter is with a nonhostile, technologically advanced race so that: A) we won't be destroyed, and B) we won't have the chance to try and colonize them.

'stay away.' (for your own sake.)

I realized my original icon was had odd implications. I dunno, I just think, like a girl steering clear of her town's resident bad boy, aliens might want to avoid humanity and it's ability to fuck shit up.

Given the cyclical nature of human history, it wouldn't surprise me if we started a brand new wave of oppression and prejudice if first contact goes our way. Sadden and upset me? Yes. Frustrate me speechless? Yeah. Surprise me? No.

See, I never thought of worthiness to deliver a message. If aliens are real, they're just people, sentient beings like humans. Anyone can talk to another human being, anyone can talk to another person. Your message might not be as weighted with meaning as a leader of a country, but it's still important. I'd be amazed to get a space letter from a twelve year-old child alien!

*lol* "Need help. Please send space Jesus."

Ahhh. see, I was thinking of it more like a 'message in a bottle' style thing. Only space. You don't know who will get it, what they'll look like, where they're from...but someone might get it and read it.
