Here's a question. WHY DO I ONLY SHIP PAIRINGS THAT ARE GOING TO BREAK MY DAMN HEART?

Honestly! In almost every fandom I edge into, if I bother to follow a couple, it is always a doomed pair. Either it's obvious that their relationship isn't made to last, it's unrequited, it's doomed to end with one of them dying, or it's clear that the canon ( Read more... )

/totally feels your pain

The worst part is that the show in question actually gives the couples enough screentime and enough chemistry to make it work, you know? And then they laughed and tell people, 'of course xx&yy is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Are you mad? 'insert-the-canon-couple-that-has-less-chemistry-here': They're the heart of the show! Blah blah!

AND OMG YOU SHIP RACHEL/JESSE TOO. I know he's probably playing her and is going back to Vocal Adrenaline in the future, BUT RACHEL LOOKS SO HAPPY (with the exception of this week's episode)- I mean, look at the April Episode! Even in the background, they're still so cute.

AUUUUGH. YES. I hate it when the creators get all up in the shipping drama. Avatar ESPECIALLY, since they deliberately baited Zutara fans with their shipping crack mini-episodes and in cons.

Well, I shipped Rachel/Jesse because she did look extremely happy and he was the only one not treating her like trash. But...yeah. He's probably playing her. And I hate the thought of him breaking her heart and Finn swooping in to rebound.

THIS THIS THIS. And that milisecond in 'Home', when Mercedes was imagining them as a cupcake and burger, when Rachel was talking about Fanny Price(?) or something- Jesse was listening. Interestedly. Compare that to what we saw of Finn/Rachel in ANY OTHER EPISODE. They don't work, creators! Sometimes the 'opposite attract' thing DOES NOT WORK.

And I hate the thought of him breaking her heart and Finn swooping in to rebound.

*sniffs* And the fact that the majority of the fanbrats is of the Finn/Rachel-shipping variety and it sucks to be there when they're gloating.

I still want to stab Finn in the face for telling Rachel that he'll actually have to listen to her talking now. What a stupid douchebag. He's just...this big, entitled wuss to me. I think I would rather her hook up with Puck than with Finn.

Sai/Sakura made so much sense in my head when I was reading, and I especially liked the equality between the two characters, and how Sai and Sakura interact in the show. Sai's not constantly focused on someone else- when she talks to him, he listens, and thinks about her. Naruto's obsessed with Sasuke and Sasuke's obsessed with Naruto. Frankly, they should just hook up and have done with it.

God, I'm so much like this, but instead of relationships, it's my favorite characters. I always connect with the characters who are either doomed to die or they're going to suffer for the rest of the series.

Although I do tend to fall hard for ships that'd never happen in the actual canon, or they'd happen but failure is imminent. (Biggest example of what you're talking about? Nephrite/Naru from Sailor Moon. I WILL NEVER GET OVER IT. Oh and the couple in this icon, too.)

And OMG, you ship Shego/Kim. That's awesome.

YESSS. Doomed for suffering characters. Or the ones that are the underdogs no one likes. Not the underdogs that you know will eventually be super popular, the underdogs that never catch a break. I feel for them more.

(I KNOW, MAN. I WILL GO DOWN WITH MY SHIPS.)

I shipped Shego/Kim like burning. It had everything. The tension, the foeyay, the witty repartee, how focused they were on each other during fights. *sigh* Ahh, good, lovely ship. Damn you, Ron!

Exactly! I always fall for the underdog characters that are always doomed to suffer, or not get enough screen time, or fandom hates them. Especially minor characters, because sometimes I love them and I wish they were the protagonists sometimes.

And sometimes I like a main character more if fandom scorns them despite how awesome they are and they're doomed to lame fandom forever. The guy in my icon? Sazh from Final Fantasy XIII was an underdog from day one, because the fandom likes to make lame racist jokes over how he has a baby chocobo travel with him. And that's just him. I won't even make a list of my favorite female characters who always get bashed.

(Hahahah, funny you mention that, because Nephrite/Naru actually has an "I will go down with this ship" code next to it in my profile. AND I MEAN EVERY WORD OF IT.)

I loved Shego/Kim to the point where I was actually bitter that they shipped Kim and Shego off at the end of the series to Ron and Dr. Drakken. And I never get angry over canon ships! And for some reason, the hook-ups ( ... )

Baby chocobo. Wow. I mean...damn. And yeah, a fandom that hates on my fave always makes my love for that fave go higher out of sheer, stubborn spite. Typically this happens with hated female characters, because those poor ladies get so much vitriol over stupid shit. Like their clothing. Or their talents and skills. Or being loud, or quiet, or happy, or depressed, or aggressive. Or...y'know, breathing.

(It's probably the motto of the Doomed Shippers.)

I, too, was bitter over Kim/Ron and Shego/Drakken. Mainly because they chemistry for those couples was NEVER THERE. I suppose one could make an argument for Kim/Ron (which was dumb), but Shego/Drakken seemed so...tacked on.

And she's engaged, and I think the show's going to build up the relationship with Rory, and can I please mention how much I hate Awesome Girl/Scruffy Loser pairing? Hate. Ahem.

Noooooo! I refuse to believe Amy/Rory will become (more) canon. He's the dude who's heart she breaks to be with the Doctor! His only purpose it to provide her with reasons not to nail the Doctor (and that didn't even work!).

I reject that reality.

(Although, to be fair he is a nurse, irrc, so... maybe not that much of a loser? Although I hate Awesome Girl/Scruffy Loser too. Witness my blah with the romance in Blink.)

Oh, god. The romance in Blink. Not only was it Awesome Girl/Scruffy Loser, but it was pointless, tacked-on, and completely bland. If you're going to have romance, for god's sake, show us some sparks! I was confused for a couple seconds when the guy meaningfully asked if 'it was getting in the way of other things', and then my mind went: "NOOOOOOOOOO."

I hope Amy/Rory is not to be. I heard the actress made a comment that hints that they might, though...and that will break me. <8O PLEASE GO FOR BREAKING RORY'S HEART, THX.

And if it becomes reality, well, it's a show in which people make a point about saying that time can be rewritten and we have FANFIC.

I know! Honestly, I didn't realize how abrupt it was until a rewatch when I swear, it happened so fast my neck cracked.

Well, I'm sure for A LITTLE WHILE there will be more Rory/Amy, before she breaks his heart and goes off to have badass adventures with the Doctor (and sex). I mean, she's contracted for the next season - do you really think Rory will last that long? While remaining engaged to the Awesomeness that is Amelia Pond? I think not.

HAAAAAA, I totally feel your pain. Even worse? Some of my pairings involve characters that may not even have one scene together (Jet/Mai anyone? Ohhh, even better, Yoko/Viral in TTGL).

Jet/Mai fascinates me immediately. I have seen but one tiny drabble for it, though.
