"I Have Always Relied on The Kindness of Strangers" is a recount of how United Airlines staff severely mistreated evilpuppy, who has been suffering from a spinal injury since 2004. She's disabled and needs assistance on airline trips, assistance which United failed to supply, and then refused to apologize for, right in her face That's right. They refused to ( Read more... )

Yup. They misplaced our luggage on our trip to Puerto Rico, too. Took us two days to get it back, and my suitcase was broken. This must be the airline of unprofessional fuckheads.

Goddamn, I've been reading the comments on the entry since last night and I am so INFURIATED at all of this! I HAVE NEVER MET FUCKHEADS WITH SUCH CONCENTRATION OF DUMBSHITTERY IN MY LIFE. I don't fly often, but you can bet I'm NEVER touching United Airlines with a ten foot pole. >|

Pretty much. Looks like representatives from United came forward to talk to this woman about her mistreatment, but 'too little too late', in my opinion. I think this is the same airline that gave us this shitty escort when my sister and I were children.

My mom paid for us to have one since we were traveling alone, and she was extremely hostile towards us through the whole flight. We didn't even KNOW she was our escort, just thought she was a stewardess. And then, when the flight was over, we left the plane and walked around the airport alone, going straight for the luggage section and waiting around for about twenty minutes before realizing our grandma and aunt weren't showing up.

That? Was epic airline fail.

I agree. It's way too late for that shit. I'd be insisting on a full refund of the money I paid for the flight plus pain and suffering if I were in her shoes. No one deserves to be treated like that, least of all those with disabilities.

Oh my god, that's absolutely horrendous. Escorts are SUPPOSED to be courteous as it is! Being mean to a CHILD?! WHAT THE FLYING FUCK?! AKSLJFHDSLKFJHSDLFJK this is just solidifying me never using any of their services. Fuck them hard with a spiked dildo.

I'm still amazed at some of the responses on Consumerist. There were quite a few agreeing with the airline on that matter. I mean...what? How can you AGREE with assholery of that level? And if the airlines aren't responsible for providing care for the disabled, and the wheelchair escort isn't responsible, then...what are they saying? Disabled people should never fly EVER or expect to be treated like human beings?

And yeah, my relatives were screaming at the people in charge over that one. In machine-gun Spanish, even. (Puerto Rico.) That woman was such an ice-cold jerk I am amazed. You don't have to like kids, but abandoning them into a situation where they can easily be kidnapped? Way to be classy. (Also, we were the politest kids ever. No fooling. Being raised by military parents has this effect.)

This is just another reason to hate United. Pretty much everything about them sucks, I hope I never have to fly with them again. I have had nothing but terrible experiences with them.

I'll definitely get a flight on another airline (maybe JetBlue!) if Color and I do that trip to NYC. These people are just unbelievable tools. Especially that Dina woman.
