In my opinion, it's the government's place to protect the rights of its citizens, not dictate their lifestyle. Therefore, I believe that a government shouldn't forbid consensual and fully-agreed polygamy, polyandry, gay marriage, interracial marriage, and inter-religious marriage. I agree... except... can you define "marriage between children"?

For example, in the UK the age of consent (and therefore marriage) is 16 but the age of legally defined "adulthood" is 18. Similar differences apply in most of Europe (and some US states).

Since some groups have claimed that the UK has "child soldiers" because one can join the armed forces at 17 (with which I take issue) would you consider two 16 year olds marrying a "child" marriage?

How about the 14 year old pregnant female in Oklahoma who is legally allowed to marry her child's father?

I used 'child' as 'prepubescent'. Marriage between adolescents/teenagers is something I don't think is good, but not morally problematic as long as it's not a fully-grown adult and an adolescent. It's more that I think teenagers, who are still under control of their hormones, aren't emotionally stable enough to marry and have a family.
