[Follows THIS and THIS]Jason knew the sound of that truck anywhere, yet he didn't move from where he had taken residence in his bed with the covers over his head. Luckily the front door was unlocked. They could either figure out to come in themselves or stand out there until he was ready to get the door... probably in, say, a decade. His chair was ( Read more... )

Tim jumped out of the truck, stretching and yawning before he even shut the door behind him. Almost two days on the road took it's toll even on a stocky football player like him. He glanced around the street and the front lawn of Jason's place with a slight nod. "Not bad," he commented with his Texas drawl. The last he was here in Jersey it was to drop Six off, so it was well before Jason set himself up with a place to live. He hadn't jumped the gun too much in case Erin was going to tell him to fuck off. Now, it seemed, that could still be on the cards after everything Jason had done to ensure the chick was provided for and had the support she needed. This was why Tim didn't do committment. "Truck's there. He must be home. D'ya think he's gettin' laid?"

Sam stood up again, and carefully moved onto the bed so she was behind Jason, and wrapped her arm around him as she looked at Tim from over the top of Jason's shoulder. Hugging footballers wasn't the easiest, but Sam didn't mind. "Want us to go run her down with the truck?"

Jason shook his head. "It's not her fault," he choked out. Goddamnit. Now that the tears were back, they were never going to stop. If only he could shake that horrible, lead-weight sick feeling in his gut. He pulled out of the hug, but it was just reactionary. If he was going to hurl again, he was aiming for Tim and not Sam.

He rested his wrist against his forehead as the tears streamed down the side of his face. He ignored the trickling feeling of them. "Noah's not mine."

Tim's mouth dropped open. If there was anything he had been expecting to come out of Jason's mouth, that wasn't it. "Dude..." he murmured, gaping in shock. He rose from the crouching position to sit on the side of the bed. "She said he was yours..." Sure, it was a stupid statement, but what else was he supposed to say?

Sam shifted so she was sitting up. If Jason was going to be sick, she didn't want it aimed at her either. He had that green thing going on in the face. She stroked her fingers through his hair and looked at Tim. Her shock came more as a wave of emotion that threatened to create tears of her own. "Shit, J."

Also meant her brain wasn't any better at coming out with something comforting and useful to say. Noah had been Jason's whole world since the accident. Now that world didn't exist.

"She had a test." Jason gave a small tearful bark of a laugh in disbelief. "A test! The test, then told me. And now he's just gone. I hardly even said goodbye. He was my whole fucking world and now he's gone."

"You should come back to Dillon, dude," Tim said simply, never really having much of a way with words. "Gotta spare seat in the truck."

Sam looked down at Jason and nodded. "Yeah. Take a break with us. 'Sides, someone's gotta save me from killin' T. I love him, but he just drives me so damn crazy sometimes." She wet her lips and swallowed back the lump in her throat. She knew better than she'd ever let on what he was going through. "We'll pack so ya don't have to move until we're ready to go."

Jason just got restless then and tried to sit up in the bed, though he didn't have a lot of strength left after the emotional drain Erin's news had put on him. "No, no. Damnit! I'm not going backwards! I can't just... just..." He didn't know how to finish the thought, giving up on trying to move and slumping back down against the pillow. "JC's here... my job... I can't believe he's not mine," he ended, his voice catching.

Tim put his hand to his mouth and watched Jason helplessly. It was almost the hospital all over again. What the fuck could he do to make it better? "I could go get beer?" he suggested with a slight gesture to the door.

Sam smiled a little at Tim's suggestion before she gave a shake of her head. "Damp face cloth would be better right now." She looked down at Jason. "It ain't goin' backwards... JC will still be here. She can come visit. It's just about takin' some time to think with your friends around. We can't stay here. T's got the rest of the season, and I got school. Even if I wanna just quit and start workin' full time now."

Jason managed a long-suffering look at Tim; not surprised by the suggested catch-all fix at all. Some things really never do change, even when your world is falling apart. "I can't think. I feel like shit. I-I don't know what to do. I don't know what to think. He's not mine and that means I probably can't-" He cut off, getting distressed all over again.

"What about tea, and like... carrot sticks like your Mom used to make us," Tim suggested and then smirked. "Healthy snacks. Made good missiles. Dude, he's not yours and that totally fuckin' sucks, but we're here, yeah? Tell your chick you need to go home and when you get there, you can do that J Six thing you always do and pick yourself back up and come up with another grand scheme that always works 'cause, well... you're QB1."

"Can you even make tea?" Sam asked Tim, a curious look on her face. "T's right, J. You just gotta be able to pick yourself back up. I know it's gonna take some healin', but you're strong. And you got us. You always got us."

Jason looked between them, wiping at his eyes with the back of his hand. "I can't think right now. I just need to..." He pressed his lips together and shook his head. "I don't know. I don't know anything anymore."

Tim pulled his lips to the side and soon nodded. "Alright, Six. Shove over." He didn't want for the demand to be carried out. He pushed Jason's legs out of the way and squished up on the bed beside him, back resting against the headboard. "We'll sit and wait til you do know and if you don't know by tomorrow mornin', you're coming back to Dillon."
