The snow continued to fall lazily through the air around Jack, covering the footprints made in the snow mere moments after they were created. He stuffed his hands deeper in the pocket of his coat, smiling despite the slight shiver that ran through him.
It'd been a few weeks since he'd started chasing the Doctor, jumping across time and space, always just one step behind. Jack prided himself on his ability to follow the clues left behind one by one, and though he never seemed to arrive quite soon enough he could've sworn he'd caught sight of the Doctor on a couple of occasions.
But he was grinning now; it was Christmas and he was right back in Britain during World War II, and something told him he would be meeting up with the man today.
It was more than just a vague feeling, the present stuffed in one of his pockets proved that, but Jack guessed it had a lot to do with just the season. It was a truce between adversaries(or was it friends? He wasn't sure yet). A chance for each to catch their breath and simply enjoy the festivities.
He walked in through the restaurant door, shaking the snow off at the steps, already relaxing as the warmth seeped in through his coat.
