Past surveys:
2003,
2004,
2005,
2006 1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
I went to Mexico, got a speeding ticket from one of those cameras on the 101 freeway in Scottsdale, drove to San Diego on a whim, went to New York three times, fell in love.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I never, ever keep them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! My best friend Megan had her son Trenton Paul Shonka on September 11th.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
She wasn't extremely close to me, but a girl I went to school with died in a car accident back home.
5. What countries did you visit?
I went to Mexico for about fifteen minutes, mostly just to say that I have been to Mexico!
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Oh gosh... more focus, I suppose. I'd like to stop being distracted by everything at once and just be able to concentrate on one thing. (This may require medication of some sort.)
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 11th, I ended my videoblog.
March 17th, the party in New York.
September 11th, Trenton's birthday. :)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing the videoblog and making my own short film on 16mm.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Gaining the weight back.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really, thank goodness!
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I bought my video camera in February and it continues to be awesome.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I don't really know. Isn't that sad?
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I feel like everything that happened relationship-wise really bummed me out this year. I kind of lost it all together with stress and everything, so I'm definitely appalled by my own behavior.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Trips, I think? I don't really know. I haven't been keeping track as well as I should be.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The End of Show party, meeting Erik, and my road trip to Omaha and back at the end of the year.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Kanye's "Stronger" for its continual presence on the radio.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Sadder, but only by a little.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer in the grand scheme of things because now I have student loans... oy.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spending time figuring out what I really want in life. I feel like I'm not doing anything to further myself and just treading water.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying over things that don't matter, crying over relationship stuff.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
On Christmas itself, I did nothing but sit around and watch House, MD on DVD. The day after I left on a week-long trip to Omaha.
(I have been doing this survey for four years and have just now realized there is no #21.)
22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Yes.
23. How many one-night stands?
I think only one.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Daily Show. I also really got into House, MD this year.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I think I have a little more self-hate now than is absolutely necessary, but this time last year I was consumed with videoblogging and the tiny community around that. It's weird to be without focus, but I feel like videoblogging wasn't the right outlet for me. Need something better.
26. What was the best book you read?
I read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand this year.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hrm. Spoon, I think.
28. What did you want and get?
I got to work for Fall Out Boy at a show with Heather! That was such a blast... she is great.
29. What did you want and not get?
Towards the end of the year I got a hankering for a new car.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I really loved Juno.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 25. I stayed with Heather in Queens, then went to visit Erik in Stamford. The second half of the trip was weird because we'd just had a big fight, but I did have fun.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Stop trying to force it. Relationship-wise, health-wise, work-wise.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
I wore a whole lot of black this year. Black and gray, black and gray.
34. What kept you sane?
Phone calls to people far away, and Erika at work was a lifesaver on more than one occasion.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I had a huuge crush on Ze Frank! Huuge with two U's.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Despite the upcoming elections, this was a pretty politically-boring year. Maybe BECAUSE of the midterm elections in 2006, the republicans lost carte blanche and now have to work harder to infuriate me.
37. Who did you miss?
He knows who he is.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I met Heather for the first time. And Erik.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007: Speeding tickets do not go away if you ignore them. You should probably pay them.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
For now I'm faking it
'Til I'm psuedo-making it
From scratch, begin again
But this time I as "I"
And not as "we"
