I'm almost finished re-watching Buffy season 1, and I'm really impressed by how good it is. I usually think of season 1 as a weaker season, but it is pretty consistently fun, entertaining, and engaging.

As You Were is one of the most unpopular Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes, and I get why. Riley and his wife are too perfect, and Spike as the Doctor doesn't really make sense. But from when I first watched it, all I could think of is how a few minor changes could make it a great episode ( Read more... )

Very interesting post about one of the problems with the use of supernatural as a metaphor for real life issues on Buffy and Angel.

Before their first battle in School Hard, Spike tells Buffy, "The last Slayer I killed... she begged for her life." As plenty of others have pointed out, this is a lie: Neither Nikki Wood nor the Boxer Rebellion slayer begged for anything.

But Buffy would.
