Even though I just responded to your last comment...
Yeah, I don't know. After this whole VT shooting thing, I was feeling very homesick. I wanted to be closer to home and to people who understood the anguish and concern I was going through. Because, the people here in NYC did not care at all. Virginia might as well be Tunisia for all they care and I was having a tough time dealing with this.
I only wanted to stay in NYC a couple years so I could get a nice experience. Which I have. But I don't think this will be a permanent home. So, DC seemed like a nice compromise. But, I'm just not ready in life to have a nice compromise and settle down. Because, I know I'll end up being near my family and in the South at some point. But it gets really hard living here without having friends whom I've known forever. I could go on forever. I was thinking about moving to London or Dublin now for a while ... but it's not as easy as just moving there plus the dollar is absolute shit now.
Okay. I'll end this.

It's not so bad--you just gotta be careful about where you live.

I live in Arlington, and I'm not fond of it, I won't lie. Still, it's the closest into the city we can live since the man friend works in Fairfax.

If I had my druthers I'd live somewhere near Capitol Hill, where several of my friends are: cheap rent, reasonably safe, near the metro, within walking distance to Eastern Market, the largest Farmer's market in the city.

A lot of the people I know who hate DC don't actually live IN DC. Everyone I know who lives in the city thinks it's phenomenal. Might just be livin' in the suburbs that does it to you.

Yeah. I think that's the only way I could find it bareable. However, if I stayed with my current job, the office is in Bethesda... so that kind of ruined my big plan.

I know. But it's so comfortable.

see, these two statements together are exactly why you can never move to DC. I'm glad you realize it.

Well, at least not until you are ready to settle down and be comfortable (this is after reading your other responses). If you get comfortable somewhere but are still wanting you live other places, you will be miserable for years. I have friends who are in this position and its distressing. I say if you are feeling wanderlust in anyway, do it now, before you are comfortable.
