haha, i don't know about alienated gays. I would rather just get rid of the shitty puritan ethics of social control that breed intolerance of sexual choice in an ideal sense. I really don't give a hoot about a total stranger's sexual desires.
Gay pride parades would be perfectly acceptable (in our current modern/liberal society, that is) if they were actually celebrating a community (regardless of their reasons for forming that community), but that doesn't seem to be the case here. They seem to just serve as a platform for individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, to express/exploit themselves in the most outrageous way possible, and to try and force people to accept their behavior no matter how insane it may be

i think they reinforce stereotypes which are negative to some people (gay or straight) but really i think its kind of just a venting sesh because some hetero dudes totally walk around doing the same version of a pride parade every day, yelling at ladies, touching their ballz etc. i have no idea what it would be like to have to hide your sexuality almost every day, and to many gay peopel it is such a huge part of who they are.
but ideally it should be such a minor fact about someone, and such a small deal that there shouldnt have to be a parade. but there is, because we're conservative dicks.
agreed. its pretty much "our" more puritan and hateful aspect of our culture that has tried to silence sexual liberation. I couldn't begin to comprehend the psychological damage that it has caused to so many people for so long. I wish the gay mafia had a list of all the homophobes in our country so they could go to those individual houses covered in butter or chocolate syrup and start waving dildos at them. but we don't live in a perfect world!
I dont think the gays would be parading around the way they do once a year if society wasnt so fucking conservative. still...there are other ways to go about the whole thing. having a parade announcing who you like to shag shouldnt be the only way.
but on a side note, i'd be happy to get shitfaced in the middle of the day and witness a furry parade.
