Mammoth Season 1.04

Man, that got dark. Mammoths fighting to the death, cannibalistic Neanderthals, and who knows what's going to happen if the Cro-Magnon find out that Kim saved Brother of Thunder! And next week's episode is called The Gathering Storm. Yikes.

But we did get Boom shouting at the mammoth matriarch not to pick on Orwell. Hee!

I don't know what it is about this one, but i keep switching channels and only seeing the odd bits.

Just what was going on with the bit half-way through? I should not have tried to pick it up like that, should I? Argh. I can't focus with too much on every channel on the same night.

And I still keep landing on snatches with Dennis Waterman and the Allo Allo accent. (I'm going to get it for that again, aren't I?)

iplayer, here I come - have to see the Orwell and Boom bit there. :-D

You tuned in during the bit with the guy in the big costume dancing for the mammoths, didn't you?

Ah. That explains a LOT. You se, I watch this on iplayer, cos of the huge amount of stuff on, but I can't resist channel-hopping to peek... and then get: HUH???

Must stop doing that.

Triple H owns my heart so much.

Finally after talking about it we got to go shoot something! The image of James Purefoy with a gun made my night. And I'm probably going to end up saying this each week, but how awesome aren't Andrew and Daniel? Andrew is definitively my favorite character with his warm humour and his slight drama-queen tendencies. I'm still burning to know what's up with that "No capes" rule, but we're obviously not going to get to know yet. I bet it's an awesome story, though!

And let me just say how much I love Paige!? Paaaigee! &hearts you are so messed up and awesome all at the same time. I love the little mentions she makes here and there about things she did when she was little.

And Matt! I could never imagine him killing anyone, but he can come and fix my laptop any day!

Logan! I'm not sure of what I think of him yet. On one side I'm like teenage jerk! but then he says something and I'm all like aww! you have hidden depths.

I'm equally in love with Paige. The idea that she spent her whole childhood at Triple H (the secret room! knowing the best way to smuggle extra dessert from the kitchen!) is show in such small ways, so heartbreaking!

Andrew and Daniel seriously make my night, always. Even when Daniel's cranky with everyone else (and taking Logan down a peg, lol) he's nice to Andrew. BFF FOREVER, so cute.

Enigma House (I just worked out that it actually makes sense to do your own show, because you're the only one who knows what was supposed to have happened. Duh.)

Anyway, I've been enjoying this one, finding it very entertaining, but this week (while we still had snatches of Sam Kelly, hurrah!), it turned very creepy & I couldn't move till it was done. With weird nightmare sequences and sinister Paul McGann. (I don't think we've heard the last of this Argent creature, somehow).

And next week's trailer? Gemma Jones was amazing in Spooks, and I think she's going to be every bit as brilliant from the looks of things. Cliffhanger - oh noes!! 8-o

Gosh! That was a creepy episode with the dimly lit corridors and the slightly blurred edges of the nightmares.

Yeah, I wondered for a minute there if the creepy mansion house with Argent was actually going to turn out to be the reality - given how weird stuff is at the hotel. Or that Mary would believe it.

*is still amused at Harrison (MM)going to such lengths just to get fobbed off with McAllister's secretary: "Let's face it, for all the use that was, I might as well be the dead guy in the bathroom." :-D

Love and Brains: I'm sure it can't be healthy to laugh quite as much as I did at this week's episode. And that postman... Still, no one will tell me WHO IS WRITING LETTERS in the middle of a zombie apocalypse??

Dude, I remember that show! My roomies made me watch the 'best of' DVD really late one night after gaming, back in undergrad! I halfway thought I'd dreamed the whole thing!

Must... torrent...

We discussed the 'letters' thing, actually, and concluded that the zombies were the ones writing them. They all say something like:

Brains,

Brains brains brains. Brains. Brains brains brains braaaaaaains brains.

Brains brains,
Brains.

Their Exits and Entrances: what happened this week?

I usually save this one for watching on iplayer and trying to figure out what is going on this time... and this week. Well, I still kind of enjoyed it - but WHAT were they doing? How many times does Patrick Stewart have to die? And, come on, everyone can't turn out to be a robot.

:-(

OTOH, next week's trailer won me back over completely. Oh my...

but WHAT were they doing?

It didn't help that in all the nightclub scenes the incidental music was so loud you couldn't hear what anyone was saying. I had to turn the subtitles on. Which is a pity, because that was supposed to be when the vital clue showed up.

How many times does Patrick Stewart have to die?

You'd think by now they'd have alerted everyone on the station to look out for anyone resembling him. The ginger wig wasn't exactly an impenetrable disguise.

OTOH, next week's trailer won me back over completely.

Was that Sir Derek Jacobi pulling the rabbit out of the top hat? I know we only saw him from behind, but he's in the cast list for next week, and he looked vaguely familiar...

Exactly. Mind you, I think I'd have accepted the rest if it hadn't been for the distracting ginger wig, as you say. Little things, always the little things...

Derek Jacobi? Really? You know, you might well be right. I think it's all going to be okay again next week. :-D
