Spartacus: Series 1-3 Reaction Post

Oct 24, 2013 17:52

I don't think I've ever tried making one reaction post for an entire TV-series, but this is something I need to get out of my system. I wasn't even going to watch it, for heaven's sake! I'm not one for gore and epic bloodshed (though I am one for canon gay, yes), but this show - this goddamn show! It can be SO bad but it can be SO awesome. So, ( Read more... )

The graphics/gifs I've seen of Ilithyia and Lucretia often tempt me to give this show a shot (despite, yeah, also being spoiled as to how that ends). I think I d/led the first season once, but I still haven't managed to start watching it.

I confess I didn't particularly liked season 1. I muddled through it because I didn't think I'd have understood much if I'd started with season 2. XD But yes, those two are pretty badass. XD I was mostly in it for the canon slash initially but it turned out to be a pretty good show in general. XD

Doing my best to spread the madness XD
It is hilarious. In a way, that's a good thing because there's TOO much violence and the only way for me to stomach it is to laugh at it. I'm not a big fan of gore. At least not when it's so explicit.
Hahaha, YES, it is an actual quote from the show! XD
That's not phallic at all! Even the cast LOLs at it btw. The cast is as cute and nice as their characters are not. XD
I've heard about "Nagron" before, but I naturally assumed there would be loads of cheating and inevitable death and misery involved. I was pleasantly surprised too! XD There is a teeny bit of jealousy involved at some point, but otherwise, they're badass and adorable and are actually pretty nice people. The rare exception. Spartacus himself is as nice as a gladiator can be, especially compared to 90 % of the others. True, likeable characters are a problem here, but at least they're interesting. The problem is: you have to somehow muddle through series 1 to get to Nagron and to more interesting plot points (well, imho; I'm just not ( ... )

I sort of just really want to watch it for Lucy Lawless, is that bad?

I decided to watch S3 in small doses and in 3x01 too bad we can't know Spartacus' reaction to the news of her death (if he ever did find out). Gannicus says that the men who set Spartacus on his path are no more blah-blah, and their wives too. Spartacus looks pensive but not really surprised. Hard to tell.

So Spartacus did find out, off-screen.

also, hnnng, delicious 3 seconds of Nagron - I can stop watching the ep now XD

Oh, true, but it's not like we see him react properly. Especially considering that Illithyia died in a pretty horiific way and the baby was lol his. XD
Hehehe, yessss, they have that hawt scene in 3x01. <333

Well, on the other hand it's good - why should he feel anything for a baby conceived in that way and with Illithyia? If he wanted babies, it was with Sura XD

Of course. The same as Crixus didn't want babies with Lucretia. I kinda like that subversion of the Infant Immortality trope))) Usually there's too much craziness around babies, and I like that Spartacus and Crixus care more about who the baby is with than the baby itself. Why would they want a baby with the genes of those crazy bitches? XDDDD
