I don't think I've ever tried making one reaction post for an entire TV-series, but this is something I need to get out of my system. I wasn't even going to watch it, for heaven's sake! Doing my best to spread the madness XD
It is hilarious. In a way, that's a good thing because there's TOO much violence and the only way for me to stomach it is to laugh at it. I'm not a big fan of gore. At least not when it's so explicit.
Hahaha, YES, it is an actual quote from the show! XD
That's not phallic at all! Even the cast LOLs at it btw. The cast is as cute and nice as their characters are not. XD
I've heard about "Nagron" before, but I naturally assumed there would be loads of cheating and inevitable death and misery involved. I was pleasantly surprised too! XD There is a teeny bit of jealousy involved at some point, but otherwise, they're badass and adorable and are actually pretty nice people. The rare exception. Spartacus himself is as nice as a gladiator can be, especially compared to 90 % of the others. True, likeable characters are a problem here, but at least they're interesting. The problem is: you have to somehow muddle through series 1 to get to Nagron and to more interesting plot points (well, imho; I'm just not a big fan of gladiators, I haven't seen the Russell Crowe movie f.ex.; and s1 mostly consists of gladiator fights and training and the DRAMA caused by it).
