If your ever bored enough, you should read Montaigne's essay "On Friendship." I think you may find it interesting (although it gets somewhat sexist at times, but that's forgivable):

it completely makes sense. I definitely believe that if a relationship is beginning to frustrate or hurt you the best thing to do is realize the things you've learned/gained/lost from it and move on. I agree- building blocks of life (is that something Dr Phil might say?)
