What I just finished reading: lots and lots of Yuletide stories. Bunches. Also a few Kili/Tauriel stories (shut up), most of which sucked. I'd like to read some Kili/Tauriel fic, too, but yeah, I kind of figured there would be a lot of terrible stuff. Which is too bad because it has the potential to be really fascinating.

If you can ignore the profusion of typos and a few odd bits, I enjoyed Five things Kili Didn’t Know About the Elves of Mirkwood - in fact, I've been reading it to my husband as I give him back-scratches, one section per night. But so far, I'm afraid that is the only story I even somewhat liked; that author's other stories have been even worse in terms of misused language and typos, at least as far as I've read.

Kili/Tauriel! I am laughing so hard. But has anybody managed to pull it off? Because that... would be something. I mean: elf/dwarf. Chemistry right there.

Hee, yeah, I think it's exactly because I imprinted on Gimli/Legolas that I find Kili/Tauriel so adorable. She's tall and kickass! He's short and clever! Together, they fight crime! But I assume you saw the movie? It is clearly being set up as Tragic Love Story.

(Actually, it occurs to me that my niece and her husband are kind of visually a match to them - she's tall with long hair, he's short, stocky, and bearded. Heh.)

Anyway, the story I mention above is the best I've found so far, but consider it a qualified rec.

Tragic? Argh, no!!!!!! Can't remember: Kili survives in canon, doesn't he? And Tauriel's made up so can be anything. Clearly the Arwen of the Hobbit. A bit too 'feisty kick-ass token maiden' for me but hey, I take what I'm given.

Also, together they fight crime??!!! The X-Hobbit files! Sheriel and Watsli! Stariel and Hutchli! Batli and Robiel!
